Caboki Hair Fibers for Thinning Hair – Plant-Based Powder - 30g Black

I have tried several different products like this to cover areas of my scalp affected by Trichotillomania. Caboki is the best one, but the most expensive. Toppik is much cheaper (and available at your local beauty supply if you can't wait for shipping) but much more "dull" than Caboki. Caboki was the least dulling and most "natural". None of the available hair loss powders will add any shine to your hair so I recommend a shine spray misted over. Third option is Nanogen however this was wayyy off in color ("dark brown" was a pale greyish medium brown, extremely dull). I would skip that one. I have also used DermMatch, which is a cake color you apply with a large foam applicator; this is decent for touch ups but the applicator is problematic. However, I got a product at the local beauty supply called "Claudia Stevens Cover That Gray Fill-In Powder" which has a brush applicator (sort of like an eye shadow brush you might get in a "smoky eye" kit) that works well with the DermMatch. To sum up, I believe Caboki is the best product, most true to color, least dulling however it is the most expensive (and certainly not a "75 day supply" for more than maybe the tiniest use). Toppik is my second choice. DermMatch using a brush applicator is good for small areas and around the hairline which is difficult to aim a powder. Areas on your head with no hair at all will not benefit from hair loss powders, you need a fine dusting of even short hair. The powders stick to the hair and some do fall to the scalp but it is not meant to cover the scalp. Too much on your scalp will cluster together with the oils of your scalp (immediately or over a few hours) and give a "Kriosian" look for those who know Star Trek inside and out, for those that don't: spots on your scalp. Make sure you dry your hair thoroughly - use the cool blast setting on your hair dryer if you have one to check that the hair is really dry - and don't use any moisturizing products or dimethicone if you can avoid it - these will cause the power to clump if it meets your scalp. Turn away from the sink and shake it on your head, brushing with your hand as you do. If you do this over the sink it gets all over your toothbrushes. Make sure to remove any that lands on your shoulders or face with a damp washcloth. Use any hairspray to set. For Trichotillomania this is a good cover and also serves as a visual reminder not to touch your hair as your fingers will be sooty right away. For help with Trich, know that you can go into remission by following a strict diet - search John Kender Diet. It is a allergic response to legumes and sugar and not a psychiatric problem. I've been dealing with Trichotillomania (Compulsive hair pulling) for most of my life and when I found out about Caboki, I figured it was too good to be true, but I decided to try a free sample from their website anyway (only $6 S&H) and I must say that the changes were DRASTIC. It was amazing. I mean, it was a total breakthrough in my confidence. When I came in to work the other day, my co-workers were complimenting on my hair and how good it looks. (little did they know ;) ) I had to go in the break room and hold back tears when I heard that. If any of you are in the same boat as I am dealing with this condition, this well change your life, seriously. Here's a few things I do want to point out: Cons: -This stuff will dull your hair a bit. -If you have an itch, you can't scratch it. You just have to pat your head. -Wearing light clothing during application may be a slight issue, just remember to dust your shoulders off. -If you have some patches near the front of your head, cover your eyes to prevent the fibers from getting in them. -It does cause a bit of mess on your counter top over time. -You have to wash your hair and blow dry your hair often to prep for application. Pros: -Because I can't scratch my head, it works like a bit of therapy and I haven't been pulling as much. -You can jump in the pool with it. -You can use volumizing hairspray for a bit of extra hold on the fibers. -Most of all, it boosts your freakin' confidence. When you buy this product, I advise getting a shade darker than what you think you need. For example, I have light brown hair, so I bought the light brown fibers. While it did cover up the patches, you can still see where the patches are and it didn't match what the photographs were portraying in the commercials, but it still made a huge difference. I still took it back and got the dark brown fibers...and it was WAY better, so keep that in mind. Tips: Just like the instructions say, it works best if your hair is clean and dry. Hold the bottle upside down and tap the bottom and a nice amount should come out. Then lightly pat your head so the fibers can make their way into your hair. Boom. Simple. Then I apply the volumizing powder to thicken the hair, and pat your head just like you do with the fibers. These powders are white, so they tend to lighten your hair, so I add a small layer of the fibers again. Next I apply the texture powder to add some style...it works like gel almost. Finally, I add another small layer of the fibers for good measure. Done. Trichotillomania is now your bitch.

Despite some very minor inconveniences, Caboki is a godsend. I call it makeup for my hair. I'm a 51-year old woman with hereditary hair loss, mostly at the top/front of my head. While my wavy, textured hair makes me a good candidate for transplant, and I am lucky to be able to "hide" a little more loss, I won't be able to afford a transplant for some time. I ordered a trial-size Caboki after viewing numerous online videos. I decided to stop highlighting my hair because I knew it was making my hair loss worse and my hair weaker. I've spent the past year growing it all out, in hopes of "starting fresh" to regain some healthy hair and to get an accurate read on how advanced my hair loss really is. I was simply shocked at how good, complete and color-matched this product was. I have no complaints at all on the efficacy of the product. My only criticisms are: If your head sweats a lot (as mine does, thanks to menopause), you can start to get some streaking/smearing of the product onto your forehead and hands, if you touch your scalp. I'm very careful to do "mirror checks" when I feel myself start to sweat, especially outdoors on a bright, sunny day. You absolutely must apply Caboki to a completely dry head. The slightest bit of moisture can cause the product to clump, especially in sections where you have significantly less hair. It can look like a hair plug, so always make sure to apply it when fully dry, in a non-humid room with good lighting, so you can see exactly what you're doing. The product can create a little bit of a mess because it can leave a light dusting on your sink or wherever you are leaning into when applying. Not the end of the world, but if you're at someone's home, clean up after yourself. It can cause your scalp to itch a little bit. I am a highly allergic person, so others may not experience this. But sometimes, possibly when I apply too much, or perhaps as a result of interacting with my hair gel, I can get an itchy scalp. This hasn't been enough to get me to stop. Sometimes I'll go a few days not using it, if I know I'll be at home, to give my scalp a rest. This is not a product you should use if you have designs on getting romantic in the shower. It will run and smear--not as bad as mascara--but you will not look or feel sexy : ) Caboki has given me a real confidence boost, and my boyfriend says my hair looks great. He's very compassionate about my situation, but knows that women get judged, and so he's always my "lookout" person on rainy days. I highly recommend Caboki. It is not a panacea, but it really can help those of us looking for a better solution to hair dyes, wigs, extensions and other things that do more harm than good. It is fairly priced and the color match was great, both when I started using it when I had highlights, and when I went back to my natural color. It will not cover grey hair if you are using a color matched to your main hair color, but right now, my greys aren't that intense, so I don't mind a bit of show-through. Get Caboki!!

I just tried Caboki last 3weeks and I must said it's way better than Nanogen. I used Nanogen for about 8months. The fiber is a bit thick and kind of look like a dust ball but it still was great. I thought Nanogen bottle and package was nice. Caboki is way better. Caboki's fiber sprinkle unlike Nanogen pouring. Feel alot less thick to me than Nanogen. With Caboki, I sprinkle alot less but get the look I desire. WIth nanogen, my sink counter tend to be very messy and alot of wasted fiber. I definitely recommend Caboki over Nanogen. However, Nanogen's spray is really good. It really hold the fiber or most of it. I would said maybe close to 90% after you took a shower or jump into the lake. So I'm not worry when I take off my baseball cap in a hot day aka moist hair or on a rainy day. I know the fiber won't come off. Here are some tips after trial and error: Use mousse volumizer (cool blow dry) before you apply fiber for thicker look and to help keep your hair looking healthy. Once you apply fiber, your hair will look a bit dry/dirty. Once you apply the fiber spray, your hair will look very dry and a bit unnatural (still good). I tried gel, paste, wax, oil, etc. those take fiber off or make your hair look thin again since it's sticking bunch of hair together. I find that hairspray work the best to keep your hair looking shiny/moist/healthy. You name it. Also, hairspray could take away the smell that these fiber spray holder give off. After 5min of airing it out, spray on your favorite perfume or cologne and you are set. I use cheap Fructis spray and it work great. Mousse Volumizer = thicker look and help hair healthy(moist) after fiber spray Hairspray = making hair looking more healthy and feel more normal. When people touch your hair, they would know it's hairspray. Without hairspray, when people touch your hair, it feel dirty and fiber could stick on their hand. When hair look like hairspray, people are less likely to try and mess around with it, imo. Hairspray reduce the smell of the fiber product. Fiber without hairspray just asking for people to comb their fingers through your hair. People don't like touching gel, hairspray hair, imo. Sorry for the all in one review. I figure, anyone buying hair concealer would like to know how to keep it looking natural and as real as possible. Look, feel, and smell. Last but not least, ok to go swimming. I haven't dry any swimming pool where chlorine and other chemicals are in it. Therefore, I have no clue if those chemicals would cancel out the Nanogen spray. I know there is chlorine in the tap water that I shower with but maybe the level isn't as high. Hope Caboki or any hair fiber work for you. I apologize for the bad English. Having a bit of insomnia and trying to tired out my mind with reviews. :)

This is a great product and does exactly what it is supposed to I am an African American male with a low hair cut and this product is still capable of covering my bald spot and looks like my natural hair. I also like the natural ingredients. Since I have a low hair cut I don't have to use much so it should last a while. Great product *Make sure to purchase the caboki control mist also

I initially started buying this product when it's label used to say that it was 100% Plant Based and natural. Today, that's not the case. This company has been raking in SO MUCH MONEY, hand over fist, by preying on peoples' insecurities, yet decided to maximize their profits by decreasing quality in exchange for harming the health of their customers. Do you realize that when you use this powder, you are essentially inhaling hundreds if not thousands of chemical particles into your lungs? For anyone who has used this product in the past, you would be familiar with the dark residue that covers your bathroom tiles over time (after just a few uses). Now imagine that chemical dust making its way to your airways, via your nasal and esophageal airways and into your lungs. How can you be assured that this is not a carcinogen? One can go and research the landmark court decision recently that found that talcum powder was causing ovarian cancer. How do you know that this chemical black dyed powder making its way through your internal airways won't lead to long-term health effects? The FDA should investigate.

I like it but worth 5 stars?… In my experience: Appreciation: Packaging- presentable! Seems securely enclosed and comes with a code to check for authenticity on their webpage. It boasts natural ingredients and plant based compared to other major brand hair/scalp “fillers” which some do use synthetic that can be carcinogenic. So I appreciate something like this on the market. My situation and background: I am several months postpartum, losing tons of hair. My scalp is super white and I have black hair so lots of thinning hair scalp exposure situation. Wanting to regain some confidence when going out and social settings I want to not feel so “bald.” I styled my (mostly clean, 2 days unwashed but without products other than heat resistant spray) hair. After I applied Caboki, lightly dusting my hair as instructed on the packaging. I was a little disappointed with how the fibers didn’t adhere to the roots of my hair very well. After finishing every part where I wanted it to stay, I applied hairspray also as directed. I feel like most of the kabuki shook off my hair into my face when lifting my hair to set with hairspray. If you are wearing make up, you will get all the fibers stuck to your face. It will literally set into your makeup. I wear a very light makeup but it still set. Be sure to apply this stuff on before applying your make up. Put on your facial moisturizer after you have applied this product. This was one of the reasons why I knocked a star off. The second reason why I knocked the star off is because. Even though lightly tapping the bottle tilted to prevent it dumping out. I felt like it didn’t disperse so well, even holding it from a distance as directed per packaging. I felt like it just clamped onto my scalp. I’m not sure why, but I expected it to have a similar effect of dry shampoo, hoping it would cling the same way to my hair. Or even the feeling of a bit more volume or something that the feeling of dry shampoo gives your hair. The third reason why I knocked a star… dry shampoo is usually in an aerosol bottle (which I realize is not natural) (and I’m not referring to the aerosol bottle anyway) and “spritz” bottle that pumps out the dust into your hair… I was hoping that maybe the Caboki could/would have an applicator like dry shampoo “mist pump spray” situation. This would be for better direct distribution of the product… rather than having the dust distribute all over my face and sink, and toothbrush… especially considering the price for the product… even after following instructions for packaging, using my hand and using the exact distance to apply to my hair. Lastly , The dust did not feel very fibrous as it boasts. This stuff has gone all over my pillow as well.
