Stirling Engine Design Manual

A little to technical for me.

This was a gift I assume it was liked.

It is a monumental work. It is a collection of a lot of data. But it does not lead me step by step through the design process.

This book is a copy of a report directed to NASA and the D.O.E. from the early eighties. 70% of its content is reference and dated software text. I don't consider it a waste of money but would not recommend buying it without having first thumbed through it. That said the first 130 pages do deliver!

Based on the name I was expecting a book that showed a regular person how to design/build a Stirling engine. Well, unless you're a PHD mathematician/engineer who also has a fondness outdated computer programs, this book won't be of much use to you.

Ce livre est riche de renseignements, mais ne s'adresse pas à des néophytes. Par ailleurs il est essentiellement centré sur les moteurs (de type alpha ou beta) à haut gradient thermique. Il décrit assez complètement deux moteurs de General Motors : le GPU-3 et le 4L23, et en partie des moteurs Philips, et les moteurs Suédois P75 et P40.Le livre contient par ailleurs des programmes de calcul, des listes de publications et de compagnies impliquées dans cette technologie, bref, c'est un bon document pour ingénieur de bureau d'étude abordant ce sujet dans un projet concret et doté de moyens.Dommage que la mise en forme soit de piètre qualité : on dirait des polycopiés de fac des années 60...

本書は実用的なスターリングエンジンを開発する為に必要な事項が詳しく書かれています。当初、模型用の資料かと思いましたが、読んでみると奥が深いです。深すぎます。
