Conclusion to the previous one in Giza.
Lisa Duncan is at the hands of Aspasia's Shadow, the hybrid of human and Airlia that despises humanity and has existed for millennia. Area 51 is stripped of resources, attacked from within, and the forces that want to awake Aspasia are in its way. Turcotte, the special forces soldier, has no respite in a long war and has to fight without knowing in whom trust. Some of his actions are strange but all fits the more books you read the books in the series. I found it quite thrilling, as each book unravels some coherence in several different myths, connecting them in a recognizable shape. It is very smart the way of the writer to make those associations.

Is this the grail you were looking for?
The Grail, the fifth book in the Area 51 series by Bob Mayer, continues the saga of earth as interfered with by aliens known as the Airlia. Artad or Aspasia, which one is the right one to side with? Is that even the right question? Who is the mysterious man in black that scares everybody? Why is Lisa Duncan stuck underneath the Sphinx? What's going on at Easter Island? Egypt? China? Area 51?This book wound up being as enjoyable as the previous books. Initially, however, I was bored and had a tough time getting into the story. It just wasn't grabbing me or my imagination. But I remained committed to completing the book, and I'm glad I did. About the 40% mark is when I started being engaged in the story. And the setup for the next chapter is immense. I can't imagine where the story goes next.I recommend the book, but only in order. You don't have to know all that has come before, but it will be mighty confusing if haven't followed the series so far. 3-1/2 stars gets a 4.{Note: Originally posted on Goodreads]

Aliens vs Humanity, and we seem to be losing. Very fast-moving story-with multiple story lines. Good Job, Bob.
Again won't go into details. Aliens been on Earth for tens of thousands of years. Alternately trying to manipulate us or destroy us. Several different groups, some relatively (ha!) benign towards Humans, the others want to wipe us out. One group controls Easter Island where one of their computers is sited, They've taken over one of our naval carrier forces off Easter Island and "modifying" crew and ship. Meanwhile, search is on for the Ark of the Covenant, the Grail, The Sword and a number of early relics that are more than they seem. Duncan, Turcotte, Kelly and the restfighting to save the World from Aliens at a time when it's in flux and each group is only interested in itself. Very fast-moving.

All the legends = Arlia
The series started out well enough, but it is getting tiring how the author is trying to explain ALL possible legends and historical events through the alien lens. That, and the redshirts effect where everyone who goes on a Mission with Mike dies. The incessant switching between locations -- sometimes after only a few paragraphs -- seems to be a forced attempt to generate a fast pace and suspense.

Gripping sci-fi action with a unique blend of genres...
A ripping read - like x files meets S.W.A.T with Indiana Jones thrown in or something...all special forces high grade military with alien tech and culture...doesn't shy away from some of the bigger 'questions of morality' and the human condition either.Being ex-serbice myself, Captain Turcotte is quite beleivable - and his 'never say die' attitude just keeps rolling through the stories (sometimes making me feel exhausted). As an aside, the series was recommended to me by my 68 year old father who isn't a big reader...to me; that speaks volumes alone.A great action sci-fi with lots of plots and sub-plots that always keeps you guessing how they'll get out of this one...!

nice read
a really enjoy Mayer's books and the way he writes, with the one possible exception that he devotes too much time to reviewing what has happened in the series up to that point in each book. I know why it's done and realize it's necessary (and I'm not really sure how else you would apprise someone who hasn't read the entire series of what's going on), but when you're in the throes of an action sequence only to stop and review why something happened the way it did, it's something of a buzz kill. Again, not faulting Mayer's otherwise very-very enjoyable work, but am perplexed about how to accomplish "neophyte review."

Amazing as always. Now, EXCALIBUR!!!
These books have encapsulated all manner of things Fortean and created a story that links them all together in a believable way (well, believable to some, anyways.) Each book has surprised and shocked me many times and I'm looking forward to see how the story enfolds in the next book in the series, Excalibur. Very intelligent and entertaining read.

Dragged on a bit
I usually enjoy these stories but this one seemed to drag a bit ,also just as your getting in to the story and meeting New characters next thing they are all dead ,the author introduces special forces from all over the world only to kill them of in the next chapter the main characters are dangerous to be around but they always get lucky when things go wrong not so much the people around them, saying that I'll cary on with the series and see if it picks up.👽

Interesting ideas
Like the other books in the series, this has some interesting ideas with a plot that unfolds slowly but not wholly unexpectedly. If I had an issue, it would be the believability of the main characters rising to their influential positions and multiple spelling mistakes but on the whole entertaining enough to warrant reading

NOT FOR THOSE WHO LISTEN TO THE AUDIO VERSION!
I listen to my books during my commute and the truth is that I could not even get through the first chapter. Whilst the narrators name has been provided I cannot believe that it is not a computer generated voice. The cadence is so odd that I could not listen. It is so distracting you cannot follow the story. I have continued reading and may update if the story proves worth it.

Good book but confusing
I'm not sure if this is a continuation of a series of books, but I found it a tad confusing here and there, because the author narrates it like I should already know some of the information in it (i.e. some of the characters, both heroes and foes). I did think this was the first of a series of books, but maybe it's not. Other than that, it's a good book that connects aliens, spirituality and mythology. Just the sort of book that I like.

Read this book
So far I am up to book 7 in the series, this is by far the best written series of scifi I have ever read , and I have read a lot , highly recommend you read , very believeable and exceptionally researched , sounds daft but this could explain a lot of mystery surrounding the ancient objects in our world.
