A staple
Many people use magnesium glycinate but i actually prefer magnesium taurate. This is much more beneficial for heart health given that the magnesium is chelated with taurine. I take two a day and it works very well.

This Product Gave Me My Life Back.
I started experiencing heart palpitations approximately 4 years ago. They started as random flutterings that would come and go as I lay down to go to sleep. They became progressively worse, and would often go on for days. These maddening incidents continued to worsen until they would culminate in a period of continuous palpitations, with my heart pounding rapidly and sporadically. These periods started in spurts of 20-30 minutes and once they stopped the palpitations would go away completely for a few weeks, then start building again. After one incident where the palpitations lasted for 2 hours, I went to the emergency room, but they stopped before the physicians could catch it on an EKG (thanks for the 20 minute delay in the waiting room even though there was no one in the place at the time). Wash, rinse, repeat. The palpitations kept coming back, building, and culminating in an extended, frightening, painful period of rapid, irregular heart palpitations sometimes lasting 4-6 hours. These incidents left me feeling exhausted and horribly frustrated as no one could tell me *why* they were happening, *what* was causing them, or how to stop them. I underwent blood tests. I did a stress test. I wore a holter monitor. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Bubkis. I was at the end of my rope, frustrated, angry, and unsure of what to do next as no could tell me what in the hell was wrong with me. I lived every day wondering when the palpitations would return, where I would be, and whether my heart would eventually give out. Then I discovered Magnesium Taurate. During a "building period" when I knew the palpitations were steadily growing and I was within a matter of days of being subjected to a 4-6 hour period of my heart attempting to hammer its way out of my chest, I was searching Google for *any* way of addressing, treating, or stopping these damned palpitations. I read an article about Magnesium deficiency causing heart palpitations, and specified magnesium taurate specifically because of its superior absorption rate. Figuring "What the hell" I drove to a local retailer that had it in stock and bought a bottle. I took 4 tablets initially, and within an hour the palpitations had stopped. Completely. Not, subsided, not lessened, but stopped. I was shocked. Then next day I took 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. Still no palpitations. Nothing. Not even a hiccup. It has been a year now, and I have had no issues with palpitations, no multi-hour heart incidents that no physician can explain. If I go for a day or two and miss some doses I will feel a couple of flip-flops in my chest, but if I pop a couple of these, everything goes back to normal. I can't say enough about this product, and would pay significantly more to obtain it. If you suffer from heart palpitations and no one can give you an answer, and least give this mineral a try, as it might just give you your life back.

Ecellent Source of This Very Important Mineral!
Three years ago I was having a lot of PVC's. (Premature Ventricular Contractions). I was having in excess of 15,000 per day. We were of course very worried. The concern is that over time they could decrease the ejection fraction of the heart. Ejection Fraction is one measurement of heart strength. I had read many articles on magnesium claiming that up to 90 percent of people are deficient in this important mineral. Why is that? Well the depleted soil does not have the magnesium that it once did. Plus stress, sugar and alcohol all rob the body of magnesium. What does magnesium do you ask? Well it is only responsible for 300 chemical reactions in the body. It's important for everything from heart to muscles. It's a calming mineral. My understanding is that you need to take magnesium by itself if you are deficient as taking it with calcium is counter productive as one will take from the other. I started talking this product and over time coupled with a exercise program my PVC's have dropped significantly. They dropped to 25 percent of what they were and I believe that they have dropped even further at this point in time. I will know in a month when I wear the 24 holter monitor. I hit magnesium fairly heavy and was taking 600-800mg a day of this product. I am continuing to take it but in a reduced amount. I believe it is a high quality product. As an aside my 93 year old mother-in-law was having problem sleeping and had cramps in her leg. She went to her doctor and he advised magnesium and I gave her a supply of these. She takes two at dinner and sleeps well and has no more cramps. She had a magnesium deficiency. Apparently stress, alcohol, sugar all rob the body of magnesium. This is an excellent product. At the moment my PVC's are stable and the last holter showed 3000 a day. Besides magnesium I am taking 1000mg of Taurine and 1000 L'Arginine. Both of those amino acids are important to the heart. This is some data online about the positive results of treating heart electrical issues with these amino acids. Search George Eby Research and PVC's. As usual discuss with your doctor.

Really works. Would recommend!
These are easy to swallow supplements. I have taken them for years. They relax my โjumpy legsโ as well so I take two about an hour before bed.

Good product but very expensive
Anyone who takes magnesium knows it's helpful to ease leg cramps and muscle spasms. There are many forms of magnesium, and I believe the best one is whichever works and doesn't upset your stomach. I've experienced digestive trouble with both oxide and citrate formulas, so I look for aspartate, glycinate or taurate when shopping for a cal/mag supplement. Unfortunately, those are rare, so I began taking magnesium separately at night. The capsules are small & easy to swallow. You need to take 3 to get 90% of the recommended daily allowance of this essential mineral, so 180 capsules is a 2 month supply. It's actually best to split up dosages of any supplement, since your body can only absorb so much. I find that the leg cramps that woke me up during the night are gone and the formula is gentle to my stomach. The taurate is supposed to be relaxing, but I experienced a stronger effect when I took citrate in powder form (Peter Gillham's Calm) The price on Amazon from Vitamin Shoppe is very competitive, but $25 is still much higher than other magnesium products, so I'm not sure if I'll order it again. I can recommend this product for its quality and Vitamin Shoppe for the quick shipping, but I'll probably be ordering something else next time. I am editing this today, Oct 25. I ordered another magnesium supplement (from another vendor) with oxide & citrate, and I've had a lot of stomach cramping. I can't tell if it's because the product is stronger or isn't being absorbed into my system. In any case, I wanted to add this to my March review, since I decided it's probably necessary to spend a little more to get what works best.

A Quality of Life Improvement for Me
I waited for my third bottle to follow up with a review for this product. I feel the results have been excellent, and along with some other changes, I can safely say my quality of life has improved. After several trips to the E.R. for the past two years because of some worrying heart palpitations/fluctuations, I was at a total loss with what to do. No one seemed to have any definitive reason for what was happening, and quite frankly the stress that not knowing the cause, seemed to make the heart palpitations even worse. A nurse friend suggested that this may be something really simple, like a magnesium and calcium imbalance. So here are my results after two bottles: +After 8-10 days of taking two capsules a day, my heart fluctuations (which were SEVERE at night and in the AM) almost disappeared completely. I would say 70% better in that time period +After the first bottle was empty (about 30 days) I quite literally stopped even thinking about the problems I was having. After more research I decided to add a 1/2 scoop a day of Hydrilla Calcium (I use Vibrant Health's super natural calcium but there are others on the market as well) I think a few things happened. 1. A magnesium deficiency was negated 2. A calcium imbalance was taken care of 3. Perhaps most importantly, I didn't feel the stress of not knowing. I am now on bottle 3. I would say after starting this regimen of two in the morning, along with calcium later after work, and regular running and exercise I am a completely different person. I can't stress enough how big of an impact this product had on my mentality, after the results started coming in. After researching other brands, and getting multiple recommendations from nutritionists I really trust, I think I will stick with CRL. Excellent product, I hope it works for you too! I highly recommend if you are having similar problems, to give this a try along with running or walking. I feel like a completely different person.

So pleased to find this form of magnesium!!
In my experience, magnesium taurate has been difficult to find, so I am pleased to be able to order it here. This form seems to work very well for abnormal heart rhythms (which I had read about.). I'm no doctor, but can only speak to my personal experience and result! By taking magnesium over a period of time, I have been able to get my distressing, irregular heart beats (PVC's and other abnormal rhythms for over 10 years!), which had been getting increasingly worse .... now almost completely under control!! Needless to say, I am thrilled and amazed with this outcome!! It didn't happen overnight but knowing that supplements to address deficiencies do take some time, I stuck with it. Took about 3 months to turn things around! I will continue to take these.
