It is clear acrylic with the delicate snowflakes added on the outside. The acrylic is very clear, so you can see any color of ink and how much is left.I really had a hard time deciding between this pen and the one that is just round with cut off edges, no bullet shape. I finally chose this one because I love snowflakes more than the holiday pattern on the other. Both are Moonman M2 fountain pens, so really it comes down to the design. I felt this was a little more feminine.The pen does have one ... well, it's not a flaw, but it is one thing to be taken into consideration. It has no clip for your pocket, which would also serve to keep it from rolling on a slanted surface. When not in use, cap it and put it in the case it comes in--a very nice, unobtrusive and satisfying frosted clear plastic case--OR, well, you can take some clear-drying epoxy and make a line on the cap, which will stop the pen from rolling. Or buy one of those lovely desk holders for pens still in use, but you have to take a call or go take the pie out of the oven.I am very pleased with this pen, and it does write very smoothly. You do not need to apply much pressure at all, and having a very fine nib means it doesn't flex or write thick lines. It's good for long stints of writing or drawing. I feel that the very fine nob is more like a fine nib than a very fine one, which is why I chose it after reading some reviews by other happy users of this pen. I do like the nob very much, and the feel of the pen in the hand. I usually don't post it unless I have to put it down for a few minutes because I'm worried that posting may cause some issue with where it meets the snowflakes. Not that I've noticed any problem with the snowflakes being brittle--I haven't. But I want this beauty to remain pristine even while being used quite often.It is a pen I would not hesitate to recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome Christmas gift for any pen lover! *by V***H on Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2019* Moonman is one of my favorite pen companies, combining some of the best aesthetic designs available with a solid writing experience at a very affordable price point. As such, I actually already have several of their pen models, including the M2, N2, C1 and S3, which have all offered great value for the money. This particular one appears to be a seasonal limited edition and is a comparable price to the standard clear Moonman M2 which I already know and love, so I couldn't resist.Since I got this particular one to give as a Christmas present, I did not ink it up. However, I can speak from past experience with my other Moonman M2s - both have been reliable, boast huge ink capacities, and easily withstood the beating they get while carried around at the bottom of my bag. The clear barrel and symmetrically tapered shape is really quite appealing when filled with ink. The eyedropper filling mechanism is also quite straightforward to clean and maintain.This Christmas edition one has a really nice pattern of snowflakes and stars which would stand out nicely against a dark background of any ink color. The fountain pen is the standard M2 acrylic eyedropper, it comes in a nice plastic storage case, I opted for the extra fine nib. On the outside of the fountain pen there are beautiful white snowflakes, when filled with aqua ink the snowflakes really stand out. The nibs is gold plated and writes beautifully. If you are a fan of Moonman I high suggest this, it would also make a fantastic holiday gift for those who enjoy writing with fountain pens.
