The box came with a big hole in it, but everything inside was wrapped in plastic, so nothing was missing. One of the boards had a small chip in the corner of it, so I simply put that board all the way on the bottom with the chip facing down, and you can't see the chip from above. I did need a mallet to put this together. Every single rail needed to be hammered into place. I liked this because it made it feel very sturdy once assembled, but it would be impossible to unassemble now. The metal is very strong and I would believe the plastic boards would snap before the metal breaks.I bought this to store 6qt sterilite tubs on. I breed Tarantulas, and needed a cheap rack that could hold up in constant 82°F and often close to 85% humidity. My previous rack had a rusting problem on the corners and edges of the metal rails. I know this rack won't have this problem because it seems to either be painted or wrapped, maybe even coated, with some sort of material that covers the metal rails.This works exactly as I needed and expected. My mother saw the quality of the rails and ordered one herself because she says "It's pretty enough to use in the storage room" and when I asked her why, it was because you can't see all the holes on the vertical rails. If you need this in a place where looks matter, this is a valid point, you can't see the holes, so it does look "pretty".I personally depend very heavily on reviews that are posted on Amazon, as do many other consumers. I not only read what reviewers say, but look to see what their pictures reveal about a products true quality and description. I aim to not only feature the products I review in many different aspects, analyzing many qualities, I also provide my own opinions on ALL the good AND bad experiences I have with the product I review. I simply enjoy reviewing every one of my purchases. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars A Fine Rack, But . . . *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2020* Pretty much the same as other racks of the sort: Kind of annoying to build with just one person, but very sturdy when finished. A couple notes on this model:* The vertical pieces in this rack are double-walled, so you can't see the couplers from the front. Makes it look a bit nicer if you want to keep it indoors.* It comes with angled metal plates to reinforce the spot where the top and bottom halves join. These plates did NOT fit into the vertical pieces, even with the help of a hammer. None of my other racks of this sort have had these kinds of reinforcements, so I left them out entirely and have noticed no weakness in the joints. It would have made it easier to put together, though.* Check the height before building. The Amazon listing said 84" high, the included booklet said 86" high, and the actual rack was 96" high (!), which (of course) was one inch higher than my ceiling. I ended up taking a reciprocating saw to the upper verticals to lop off an inch. ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars These are pretty good shelves, but not nearly as good as Muscle Racks used to be. *by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2016* I purchased what I think are muscle racks about 10 years ago at Costco. These look identical in the pictures, but they are unfortunately far inferior. Perhaps they are made by a different supplier? These are still good shelves, but there are some serious weaknesses.My biggest complaint is that the shelves are not deep enough for the slots they fit in. The shelves are only 3/4" thick, but the gap is 1/2 inch or so, so if you slide a box on it will drag along the metal frame, making it hard to slide on and possibly snagging and ripping the box. The old Muscle Racks had 5/8" thick shelves, so boxes slide on and off very easily.Also, the construction of the metal parts is not as precise and the finish doesn't look as good. I was able to get them to assemble just about as well. If you're having trouble, get a rubber mallet and seat each cross piece firmly before proceeding to the next. If you don't have one (I didn't) place a piece of soft wood over the metal bracket and use a hammer over the wood to pound each part in place. The wood gets chewed up but it does a nice job.In the pictures below you can see the old muscle racks (left) and the new ones (right). There is also a picture showing how flimsy the shelves are.
