The issue is that the top of the rear door on the XC's is made of extremely brittle fiberglass that can crack if anything (i.e. metal hooks or bike rack straps) is placed in the seem at the top of the rear door. We would recommend installing a receiver hitch on your vehicle and using a hitch mounted carrier. **Q: I have 2000$ bike, is it worth the risk?** A: It was fine for my $1,500 RadRover. It's good up to 70 pounds. What does your bike weigh? **Q: So this is a weird question, but I'd like to take my bicycle with me on my commute. Can I lock my bicycle to the bike rack using a typical bike lock?** A: You can, I did while I used one bike and left the other. However I noticed with my Prius at least, that the clips that holds the rack to the car can be removed (with some manipulation) without opening the hatch/trunk. So if someone was so inclined they could remove the rack and locked bike as one unit. It would take some time and probably look suspicious while they did it. If you park somewhere where you can see your car i would think it would be fine. **Q: Does this fold up easily for storage? I had one similar and was very hard to store.** A: Extremely easy to fold up and store. I was considering having a hitch installed on my car so I can put on a specialized bike rack so my girlfriend and I can take our bikes out. That would have cost me upwards of $700. Instead I got this for under $85 total and didn't need to install any hitch or make any customizations to my car. Product itself is easy to install. Out of the box one step to get it ready for attaching to your trunk requires a bit of strength, but beyond that attaching to your trunk is easy and surprisingly secure. I've since driven it with two bikes at 120 km on the highway and had no issue. Great product, saved me a lot of money. Only downside is that if someone wanted to snatch the whole rack or take your bike(s) off to steal them, it's not that hard.
