I would choose at least a medium strength silicone sealer. **Q: Will this work to seal the top on a raised roof van?** A: 3M Marine 4000 UV Adhesive is an excellent UV resistant caulk. The 4000 is especially designed for fiberglas and teak. If you want the toughest structural waterproof joint use the 3M 5200. Do not use the 5200 if you plan to take the raised part off. Once cured the 5200 forms a tenacious glued together joint. **Q: does this caulk contain polyurethan?** A: No, unless it goes by another name. Ensure you clean/ dry surfaces well prior to application and tape off where you don't want over spread. 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 4000 UV comes in thin metal cartridges like tooth paste not a paper tube. If not shipped in proper packaging, the cartridges will be dented, bent or even punctured. I received two wrapped in plastic bag envelopes both packaged in a paper Amazon bag together. ZERO protection. They're not punctured but are bent up. I had to straighten the bottom where the pull tab is to work in my caulk gun. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ excellent product *by on Reviewed in the United States March 30, 2026* This is the best sealer I have ever used, the self-leveling is a great tool that allows the flow into the cracks, also sets up quickly, I did apply this stuff while it was above70 degrees which I believe helped with the cure time It may cost a little more but trust me it is well worth it for sealing the roof on my car trailer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent for Sealing RV Roofs *by on Reviewed in the United States June 30, 2023* This is an excellent product overall. While marketed as a marine sealant, it can be used in other applications where a waterproof, UV resistant seal is needed. I previously used this to seal around mounting brackets for solar panels on an RV roof. Now, I am removing dicor sealant around vents and other openings on the roof and using this instead. Based on my experience with it around the solar panel mounts, it seems to be far superior to dicor and similar products sold as roof sealant. It sets up quickly and acts as both a sealant and an additional bonding agent. I suspect it is strong enough to hold the solar panels by itself (I used VHB tape as well).
