Inexpensive extruded plastic. My wife and I use them on SWA flights without screens in seatbacks. Unclip tray, place this clip, re-fasten tray. Basically you are wedging this in. Simple and effective. It doesn't squeeze your phone, the phone just sits on it, and it is slippery plastic, so the phone will fall off with takeoff and/or landing bumps, but it is great in normal flight. They do what they need to do without a bunch of extra unnecessary frippery. They are handy to have the pair in my standard backpack underseat. And if I lose them or forget them, they aren't pricey enough for me to be bummed.
