Just use a razor blade to get protective paper/plastic off, pick at a corner to start. Solid well built not fragile. Won’t work On a tank with a rim. *by K***E on January 31, 2020* It took me at least a half hour to remove the protective paper that comes stuck to the acrylic. If they used a thicker protective paper you would be able to pull it off in one piece. But they cheaped out on it, so every single spot that is cut in the acrylic the paper rips at that spot so you have to be very meticulous to remove all of it. Also it doesn’t work with rimmed tanks, the lid on the top of the box hits the brace on your tank when you open unless it’s a few inches under the water line it so it pretty much defeats the purpose.
