If you follow the instructions you won't have one exploding and not working anymore. I press it 3 to 5 times max depending on how much beverage is in the can. I have luck with that. I saw a picture on someone's review that showed the ring that connects to the can broke. They are made of plastic not steel. What I do to remove it is use your left thumb and forefinger,, gently pry up on the left edge of the ring while holding the right/hinge side with your right hand to remove it. I think they are really cool! They are nice to use when you want to save a beverage,,overnight or for several days! It's just like opening a fresh can of pop!
