    Well recorded, ultimately traditional, uncompelling

This is a very well engineered, middle of the road interpretation which sheds no new light on a wonderful composition.  It's not that the performance is perfunctory; it isn't. It has character, but it is ultimately undistinguished, using leisurely tempi, and conventional perceptions.  I'd say for excitement one should search out the 1958 Sofia, Bulgaria performance by Sviatoslav Richter or about a two year old EMI release by Leif Ove Andsnes, say far more.  Richter's is relatively speaking in poor sound, and the audience is bronchitic, but both of these pianists have more compelling thoughts than Alice Sara Ott, as great a musician as she is.

そんなにいろいろな方の演奏を聴いているわけではありませんが、「ピアノ独奏版」展覧会の絵に大感動したのは、紗良さんのこのアルバムが最初です。　名古屋公演を観たときにも再認識したのですが、とても強靭で、音の洪水を思わせる響きは、管弦楽版を聴いているほどの迫力。　特に左手の力強さはすごく、他のアーティストではこうは弾かないのかなと思うほど、独自の音世界を作られているように思いました。　プロムナードから間髪入れずにグノームに入るところや、バーバ・ヤーガからキエフの大門への盛り上がりは、何度聴いても感動します。　左手のアタックで、ピアノの弦が「ビーン」と唸るのを始めて聴きました。　ライブで弾き終った後の、まるで走り終わった後のアスリートのような表情と、サイン会での気さくさも印象的でした。　素敵な演奏です。

クラッシックド素人の自分が聴いた印象では、何となく間延びするというか、もう一つ緊張感に欠けるというか、期待外れだった。「展覧会の絵」はまだしも、次の一曲は、とても「ブラボー！」には遠い印象。まあ、ド素人なんで、よく分からんというのが適切か。
