Review: Great for small dogs nails - As the file's description clearly states - this is for small dogs, and for ours (English Toy Terrier) it's a perfect size and grain. I have a number of files with various coarseness for shaping my own nails for guitar playing - this file is much coarser than any I have without "catching" like a stainless steel one I've tried. As for it's construction, I can confirm this has genuinely etched surfaces, and not glued-on glass powder as found on cheaper files. If the file feels less effective after using for a while - rinse with warm water and a dab of detergent. After a final rinse and dry it's as good as new again. Having used this on our dog that gets nervous when it's nail-trimming-time, I'm very pleased with it. It takes down the nail at a reasonably quick rate whilst not splitting shards off. Our pooch stays quite relaxed and even starts to fall asleep ... bonus. There's been mention of the information leaflet stating this is for humans? Not the one I ordered and received. It clearly states it's been made with dogs, cats & birds in mind - I'd personally agree. Having a flat side and a curved, shaping side is great. You get a good professional looking finnish in no time. I'd personally recommend this for small dogs, especially if like ours, they're nervous about a nail trimming.

We bought this for our Pug who it takes 3 people at the local Vets to cut her nails. The one new Vet who wasn't aware of Jill's reputation thought she could do it by herself. She came out 30 mins later covered in blood (we weren't sure who's blood) saying it's all done. Anyway, we've used this on her 3 times, not easily but way better than having her nails cut. It's nice and smooth on one side and the other side is nice and rough and has a curve on it. I would like to see different options, like a thinner file, Jill is quite small and her nails curl and this was almost too thick. As we've just got it I can't comment how long it lasts but we are very happy with the file so far.
