## Description

This is a Reproduction of a 16th century Rapier. The sword has a perfect balance and, though not authentic, the rubber handle with silver wire makes the sword very comfortable to use and gives it a better grip. The sword is perfect for collectors, enthusiasts and stage use. The Rapier began its development during the 16th century in both Spain and Germany. In Spain the single handed sword was known as the "Espada Ropera" and in Germany it was the Schiavona. Although, it may seem like the Rapier was an innovation that sprang up overnight it was in fact a long process with many trials and error and as many factors leading to its creation and widespread use. The guard of the sword is intricately built in a swept hilt design with a double concentric ring guard and a square fore-guard. The quillons are a straight cross bar design with the knuckle bow attached just bellow it. The knuckle bow is attached with two additional guards and ends with a ball tip. The blade of the sword is 440 Stainless Steel in a mirror polished finish. The handle is black rubber wrap with silver wire, for excellent comfort and grip, with a stainless steel pommel. The edge of the sword is dulled but the point is very sharp. A ridge runs down the length of the blade with a short ricasso at the base of the sword. The scabbard of the sword is wooden with dull black finish. The drag and scabbard throat are both polished steel. So get your hands on these beautiful rapier before its too late.

Nice replica for a gift or interesting display. NOT for swordplay.

*by W***G on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 1, 2011*

I bought and gave this sword as a gift to a young man who is a dear friend of both of my son's and our whole family. It was a tribute to his graduating high school, and also becoming a noble young man. I wrote him a note about being a modern day "Knight" and being chivalrous in his character throughout his life, to both mark the occasion for him, and encourage him to maintain a high standard in his future manhood. Since we're Christians there were references to the "Sword of the Spirit" and "Armor of God" and such as well. That's why this sword made a fitting gift and symbol of those values. The actual product itself looked really terrific from 5' away, normal display viewing distance. Once a person inspected it up close, from inches, it's quality "flaws" were evident-and honestly exactly what I expected from this price level. The only problem I had with this sword was that the blade was actually bent at the tang, every so slightly a degree or two. This took a little engineering, but I made a vice block to grasp the sword right at the handle THROUGH the elaborate hand guard and bent the sword straight as an arrow, aligning the blade with the handle. This may have happened in shipping, I don't know. Either way it ended up perfect after I finished with it. I ended up polishing the already very bright blade, and I engraved the young man's initials in the blade right at the tang. He was supremely happy with the sword gift, and so was I. I would buy again. Enjoy!

    Perfect for my Renaissance wedding

*by G***T on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on October 1, 2010*

I was holding my breath because a sword I had ordered was much too heavy and more crudely made than appeared on the website. I ordered this because it is lighter and appeared well made and had a good review. I am really very pleased with it for the price. It is sturdy, well put together, light weight, and very attractive. I just have to remember it's on when I turn. I got a baldric on the recommendation of someone at the Renaissance Festival in Michigan that can be removed easily and quickly. I'm very happy with that, too and would like to thank the unknown gentleman for a great suggestion.

    Musketeer Rapier

*by M***M on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 17, 2011*

This is a wonderful replica musketeer rapier which can be used for halloween costume, plays or rennaisance faires. It is well balanced, well made and looks realistic. The blade is not sharpened but has a nice finish. It is a very good buy for the price.
