The little cut rolls and nigiri are made of a soft cloth material, and the plate that everything on is made of wood. It's well made too. This sushi set is SOOOOO cute! I bought it for my 2 year old for Christmas and he loves it. The chopsticks have a silicone feel to them, so it's very easy for him to pick up the pieces of sushi. This is a very adorable addition to our play food collection. (My son is almost two.) The chopsticks were actually made of a hard rubber or silicone instead of wood like the picture suggests. I'm glad, less chance of breaking and splinters. We've been having fun practicing picking up the seaweed wrapped bites with them. Great dexterity exercise for little ones.
