Some of them are like looking through holes...** A: the CollidEscapeClear is thought by Ornithologists to be perceived the same as spider webs, and birds avoid it much as humans do - they don't like preening web out of their feathers any more than we like pulling it out of our hair.  From the inside, the clear is noticeable, though - it is like looking through a lightly frosted pane. The CollidEscape White & tinted films are opaque,  white on the side facing out, and black on the adhesive side; this is so from the inside you only see the black of the adhesive, engineered so that your eye naturally focuses past the black to see the view outdoor clearly. Think Aluminum screen doors when younger, vs black nylon screens today; the Clear CollidEscape is like an Aluminum screen - you can still see out, but the view is fuzzy.  The CollidEscape CE Guaranteed(tm) - White bird collision prevention film view out is more like Black nylon screens  common today -  - from the inside, the view is as if looking through a modern screen door! as an anecdote-  We went to cover two patio windows at a volunteer's home with some scrap material; did one side, then discovered the second scrap piece grabbed was scrap due to a blemish, and it was not applied. The single completed pane stood outside their dining room where they sit and eat every evening with their family; this, for over a week before their spouse noticed that only one side had been done; they simply assumed the kids had slid the screen door to the one side rather than it being covered in CollidEscape. **Q: Can this cause heat build up/cracking in double pane windows?** A: No. It is white on the sun-facing side, and is therefore a poor solar collector. Ours is in direct sun for part of the day, and does not get warm to the touch. **Q: Is the film easy to install and take down? I didn't want scattered butterflies or birds stuck on the windows, but the entire windownon-reflective, as this product provides.When it arrived, I was nervous about the application because I was afraid it would stick in a wrinkled mess on the window before I had it neatly in place. Very quickly I learned you can't use too much water on the window before applying/centering the collidescape, as the next step is to squeeze out the excess using a credit card. There's plenty of time to get it 'just right.' I ordered a second roll and will probably get a 3rd next spring so that every window on the house is covered. It does darken the view, somewhat like a black screen, so not a big deal. Though a bit expensive, my bird friends are worth every cent.
