Telescopes are not always the best tool. I know this because i own 3 of them. Telescopes have added complexity and expense in needing better eyepieces than those supplied with the telescope to get the benefit. Then consider the weight, sometimes you just want a grab and go when you don't have the time or in circumstances where you don't have time to setup a telescope. You can get short refractors that work fine but their Field of View is still narrow. What has all of this got to do with binoculars? Easy. Binoculars are fine for wide field of view, low power star gazing, they can show many fuzzies, comets, nebulae, galaxies and under the right conditions, the Milky Way, Jupiter's moons, when the conditions are right, Saturns moon titan. There are many onjects up in the sky that look better at very low magnification and too high magnification (in the case of telescopes) can mean that you won't see the object because it won't fit in the telescopes field of view. But, to make it clear, binoculars are not a replacement for a telescope, they are a low powered/magnification companion with a telescope. Where a telescope is good for high power/zooming in on an object. Binoculars also have the added benefit of daytime use too. **Q: What's the long eye relief on these binoculars?** A: The long eye relief means the eyecups can be twist up and down for quick adjustment comfortable viewing with or without eyeglasses. **Q: How comfortable are these to use if you wear glasses** A: I wear glasses and they have an extendable cup making it more comfortable with or without glasses **Q: Does it need a tripod for stargazing?** A: Probably best, unless you have a steady hand. Straight out of the box the quality of presentation, accessories and the instructions provided impressed and I am pleased to report they were equally good in use. Lightweight, pleasantly sharp, easily focused and with minimal level of chromatic fringing for the price in against the light use at their regular price of circa £30 with an ok case, eyepiece covers and neoprene strap they are a decided steal! Ideal for garden or leisure use when walking or hiking (when the light weight is a real bonus).
