They are sharp enough to cut through at least a double layer of painters drop cloth. Pinking sheers are always heavy so they are heavy as expected. The handles are covered with a cushioning material as shown. My only complaint is that they are NOT SPECIFICALLY for lefties. They are a generic left or right use pair of scissors. For the cost, I am not disappointed but I really did want a pair made for a leftie. I'd purchase another pair if needed and I would use this seller again if needed. The 4 stars is only because they are generic for either hand and I wish they had been labeled as such.
