I immediately noticed the bottom side of the shelf where it would contact my TV was padded. There was also a small anti slip pad to place on the shelf. This was a nice touch. Once the mount is placed on your TV, it is a very secure fit. I felt very confident that whatever was placed on this shelf would be secure.The setup literally took seconds to adjust to my TV to give the angle I wanted.
