And how do you do it?** A: The bag and nozzle itself are very easy to clean. I can assure you this product is medical grade silicon and on par with our hospital supplies at my work. I would say it is even better then our hospital supplies as those are all meant to be disposable one time use only items and this is clearly meant to last. That said, the interior of the tubing you can only soak or boil. Now let's get down to the business of cleaning.Unlike most sites that recommend performing them on the bathroom floor surrounded by towels, from experience I find it much faster and easier to perform them in my bathtub. I am a very busy medical professional and endurance athlete. I simply don't have the time to perform these enemas, then have to clean and disinfect the bathroom floor, inspect and if need be clean and disinfect the walls and finally bleach the towels. I have found it is much quicker and easier to simply clean and disinfect the tub and the bag then take a shower as well all at once. As for the soap itself, I use an all natural organic cleaner made from green apples. You don't want to use harsh chemicals as they can potentially degrade your bag not to mention the potentially toxic residue that might be introduced into your system. As mentioned by Rob, if over time the staining from the coffee is an issue you can soak it in hydrogen peroxide, just make sure to rinse it all very well.On page 31 of the instruction booklet that comes with the kit it gives the best advice: that is to simply boil the kit. At the hospital we use high temperature steam and pressure to sterilize our instruments. I recommend keeping a separate large stainless steel pot in the bathroom closet and using it strictly for this purpose. The only piece that gets truly dirty is the insertion nozzle of course. Make sure you clean that out very well before boiling. Tip: I keep a box of disposable medical vinyl gloves near my tub for cleaning purposes.To make this all easier to understand here is my routine. After I finish my treatment, I don my gloves and fill up the bag with the organic food based cleaner and let it run down into the tubing. I let that soak while I clean and bleach the bathtub using a roll of thick disposable paper shop towels you can get at most auto parts stores (this is the biggest time saver: it is a lot easier and faster to clean the tub then the bathroom walls, floors and bleaching a bunch of towels). Lastly I use undiluted cleaner to directly clean the nozzle. I then dispose of the paper towels and gloves after which I use the shower head to rinse everything down. As I take my shower I release the clamp and let the cleaner run out refilling the bag several times with water throughout my shower to throughly rinse it out. Once I finish my shower I place the throughly cleaned kit into the large stainless steel pot with water, cover with a lid and boil it in the kitchen to sterilize it. I get fully dressed, make my tea and veggie juice. I then, using oven mitts, remove the pot from heat and very carefully dump the hot water into a storage container for later plant use. I carefully handle the very hot bag, tubing and nozzle, again using mitts, and hang it all up to dry in the garage as I head out the door.If you are new to enemas I recommend starting with warm normal saline. You are going to make mistakes at first and saline is a lot easier to clean then coffee or green tea. You can make your own normal saline by simply taking deionized distilled water, boiling for good measure and sterilization, and adding medical grade salt (not iodine table salt) in the appropriate ratios for your volume of water which is based on 9 grams of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) to 1 liter of water for an isotonic normal saline solution. This is the exact same ratio we use in medicine for intravenous infusion as well as irrigation of wounds and body cavities.Lastly I would recommend going to Jess Ainscough's Wellness Warrior Coffee Enema site for a very well written and detailed article and instructional video.
