Turns out the instructions to fill to line 1 and line 2 are for the upright Bissell cleaners, the cylinder style models have the same fill lines but these are for much weaker cleaning solutions. After only 10 uses the bottle was empty, I was expecting it to last over 150 uses. The penny dropped when I saw the colour of the clean water vs. the dirty water, both were very white. That's when I read the instructions and noticed the 30:1 ratio. Despite this, the stairs are lovely and clean and smell nice.
