Review: Perfect for My DIY Power Bank Setup! - The Renogy 1000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter is exactly what I needed for my DIY power bank project. Review: 110 power off the grid - Bought this inverter in order to charge electronic devices and run a small 4 cup coffee pot. There are tons of videos on how to mount these, so no real need for the lacking instructions included. The product is very well made and easy to mount, hookup and operate. The hardest part was finding a location close enough to the battery bank to keep the cable length to about 3'. The cables provided are very good quality but I had to chop up the red (+) cable in order to put a fuse and cutoff switch inline between the inverter and the battery. The ground terminal on the inverter case is ludicrously small, but make sure you run a ground wire anyway. The remote is awesome, but cumbersome to mount. I ended up using an shallow, old work, junction box and a cover plate cutout to match the remote for a finished look. Now my inverter is safe in a storage corner in the RV and the remote is conveniently mounted next to the outlet I wired up to the inverter. Product works as advertised. Had no problem running the 4 cup coffee maker, toaster and kept all electronic devices charged up with two flooded batteries and solar panel charger system. I also tested our home Keurig just to see if the inverter could surge up and run it but no way. A Keurig will draw 1500 watts at startup and will trip the inverter safety overload. Still, I was glad to see it all worked as designed. Overall, great product and value. I would buy again.

**Q: Why so expensive? can't you get a 750w inverter from harbor freight for 50$?? also, how big inverter needed to run typical house fridge?**
A: I have a large LG fridge with french doors etc. I may be wrong but I believe this is the largest residential not professional restaurant size model. ANd inside the fridge is a plate that says it requires 350 watts. I ran it all day during a recent power outage in my town with a 1000 watt Bluetti power station. I am pretty sure the 700 watt could handle it and have enough power to plug in an led desklamp after dark.  Interestingly the label on the bottom gives all kind of specs but doesn't say where it was built. (I think like most of them it was made in China.) Nice light unit, but I like my 2000 watt better but it needs at least 200 Ah battery power to run it. This one does fine on the little 50Ah battery Renogy offers.

**Q: do I need a fuse protector?**
A: You will definitely want one. It doesn’t come with power leads nor a fuse. It’s a 3kw with a 6kw peak inverter, simple math (6,000/12v=500A) so I have a double 250A fuse (in parallel) over 1/0 leads (8’ away from the battery bank). You can try to play it safe and go with a 300A fuse, but if it surges when starting up a large draw, you could blow it. Or contact the manufacturer to follow their recommendations. I look at as the fuse is protecting the rest of my system from the inverter if it fails.

**Q: Can this inverter be tied into the control panel so all outlets work in a travel trailer?**
A: Designed for hardwired outlets..but try to ground it (the inverter unit itself with 8-10 AWG wire) to the chassis as safety**and frequency noise for tv and sound systems may benefit.

**Q: Why is this a converter when it's converting 12v dc to 110v ac?**
A: I teach electronics. 
We teach that if you are DC-DC it is a converter. If it is AC-DC or DC-AC it is an inverter.
HERE'S WHY:
In DC-DC you are converting one voltage to another while changing the amount of current available.  Convert 12VDC to 24VDC and you get 24VDC at 1/2 the current. Convert 24VDC to 12VDC and yo get 12 VDC at twice the current...... assuming zero loses which there will be some losses. The ONLY thing required is a transformer with the correct turns ratio for the desired output from the available input.

INVERTING AC to DC or DC to AC is a more complicated process and is especially so when attempting to create a true sign wave AC signal from DC.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1000w inverter in 2001 ford excursion

Low voltage warning saved me from stranding myself. Battery light never came on when making a 4 hour drive. Pulled over and got gas, started the truck again and the warning came on. No battery light no symptoms of a dying truck and i figure its the 2 northstar batteries that just have the reserve to crank and run the ole 7.3. Got home and checked the alternator and i was only getting 12.3 volts. Could have easily left me on the side of the road had the inverter not sounded off. On a side note i have left the inverter on for weeks at a time with a laptop plugged in and my 2 batteries never seem to notice. Cant speak for another setup but it doesnt seem to waste too much power
