Bought this to replace a failed spotlight on our boat. Tried it out in the back yard and found the spotlight to be very bright and capable of reaching out and illuminating the house at the end of the street very well. Sidelight was present but not annoying. Will need to try it on the boat and see if it makes too much glare off the deck. Being handheld I feel it can easily be positioned so as to minimize glare. The build in flashlight (side floodlight) is a nice feature as is the strobe function. It can also be used to recharge a phone or iPad in a pinch with a USB charging port under a rubber weather cap. Nice.
