## Description

If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Ford Transit150, Transit250, Transit350 and Transit350 HD (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Review: The same kit Uhaul will install for 300 dollars - I added a tow hitch system to my 2017 Ford Transit 350. (surprised it didn't come with one from the factory to be honest) I got my quote from Uhaul and the hitch part was reasonably priced ($124 plus $15 labor). However the part of the bid for running the electrical was about ($283) for their end (kit and labor) . I felt this was a gouge so I went looking for the kit to do it myself. I hadn't really ever done car electrical projects before except change light bulbs. I've never swapped a radio, hooked up and speakers, tinkered with other electrical systems, etc - to give you an idea of my limited experience working on cars. However it's as simple as securing an inverter box behind a panel close to your tail light, running a wire through a rubber grommet into both your tail lights, clicking in the adapters to the built in wire harnesses, and running an included wire for 12v power to the battery. The only part of installing the wiring that will be different vehicle to vehicle is the location of the battery. Obviously in the transit van your battery is under the driver's chair, so the natural choice is to run the wire inside. My van is also carpeted so I tucked the power wire along the edges all the way up to the front of the van, being careful not to poke any holes in the wire sheathing. The installation overall is not difficult, just takes time to run that wire to the battery and make it hidden/pretty. I had uhaul test the connection with their plug a week later when my appointment was set for installing the hitch. Everything checked out and transmits beautifully. First try, success. Surprisingly easy, and cheap. Saved me 230 bucks for doing that part myself. In total for the tow hitch system - instead of spending $428, I spent $195 due to doing this part myself. Great product, works, not too tough to install yourself.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long does it take to install? I do not have any trailer connector or hitch on my 2018 Transit 350.**
A: I took me a little over 2 hours. Start at the drivers side. Tail light is easy to remove. T25 torx, You'll also need to remove the plastic surrounding it only because the wire from the left side is too short for the black box to reach an accessible area. 3 torx, same size, and 2 of those push button pia's. Then a little bit of jiggling to get it around the hinge. I did not disconnect the backup warning sensor on that piece, I just set it on the bumper. Run the green wire to the other side BEFORE you mount the little black box. I had just enough room with the wires a little tight on both sides to put it back together. The stretched wires will dictate where the little black box can be bolted. I used 2 lath screws, one for the ground and one for the box. You could try just one, but I wanted to insure a good ground. I spliced the power wire on the black box wire and ran the wire through an old air hose I had laying around, just for grins. Run it up to the front along with all the other junk going that way and I had enough wire to go to the drivers side and loop to the rearmost terminal on the power box, accessible by popping off the cover that has the red + cover. Splice in the fuse, then the connector. After you are all done, then install the fuse. I recommend looking at utube for better visuals. You do not have to take off the plastic below the taillight on the passenger side. There is enough room to fish it up if you remove one screw and use a screwdriver to get you enough room. This would have been so much easier if Curt didn't cheap out on the wire length for the two tail lights. The one that etrailer sells costs more, but may be worth it if their wires are a few inches longer. I noticed that video shows a extra foot or so of green wiring. I haven't tested it yet as I have a tester coming in the mail and I don't want to move it off the lift until I'm sure it works. A lift makes it easier if you're 70 and it's a hunnert degrees out.

**Q: El cable negro qe ba ala bateria ba en el positivo o negativo**
A: El cable negro va en el positivo

**Q: Says it fits my 2016 transit 350hd but then says single rear wheel only. 350hd is dually. Will this work?**
A: Probably not. The plugs that go into to turn signals may be different or some small stupid crap like that, I would call a local parts store get a reference number and come back to Amazon and buy what I need.

**Q: What gauge is the black power wire in the kit?**
A: the wire is not marked , but it looks like a # 14
