I pop the two ice packs into it, straight from the freezer, just before I go hiking, and the mini cool bag fits nicely into my rucksack. Everything in it stays cold from when I start off to lunch time, and I've even taken mini frozen cheesecakes in it that have stayed acceptably firm. I don't know what I did before I had it, because in our current heatwave it's just not safe to take food that isn't being chilled, there is too much risk of food poisoning.
