The teeth on this saw are VERY fine and the plate is thin. Despite having a stiff back, this saw can deflect very easily. In addition because the teeth are so fine, it's going to take a very long time to cut into thick-ish hardwoods.So what is it good for? Exactly what the product name says! Kumiko work. I cut my jigumi (grid work) half lap joinery by hand, and this saw is absolutely perfect for that task. I have about a half a dozen saws that excel at that task that I have been using for years, but this saw is lightyears better. It's just long enough to stay true when I have 12 to 16 pieces ganged at once, but not overly long. More appreciated is the sort depth. I only cut down 5 to 6mm so the short distance between the teeth and the spine help keep the saw true as it's not tippy.Lastly the spine is really heavy. I don't need to apply any downward pressure at all. The kerf is about as thin as my marking knife so the half lap joints come out perfectly (as long as I lay them out perfectly).For delicate work, this saw cannot be beat. This was my first pull saw. I think I like it. The nature of this kind of saw is that you're working with finer, probably smaller, more delicate sizes & cuts. Not a whole lot of need to capitalize on the efficiency of a pull rather than a push. That's just my observation, and isn't meant as a negative.Simple, basic construction - nothing fancy but nicely-enough made and light & well balanced, this saw cuts THE thinnest line/kerf I've ever seen! Almost no wastage, so you can utilize about 99.9% of the length (or width) of your piece of wood. The cut produces a smoothly finished surface, and - depending on your skill and the use of the wood - will need very little sanding or other surface remediation.On the whole: Wow!
