I was able to form the pillow to the right size to provide support for my neck and let my head rest lower than my neck higher up on the pillow. I will say there was a faint chemical like odor. It went away quickly. I’m serious that I took it straight from the packaging to my bedroom. I gave it no time to air out. I’d suggest to let it air out for 30 minutes. The pillow is cooling when you lay down at first. It’s so nice. Both heights work for my neck at different times. If it’s a good day the higher support feels best. If it is a rough day the lower height gives support gently in the right amount. When you lay down on your back it is like a puzzle piece going into the last spot and it fits perfect. I have some days that the pain is hardly bearable. I need to lay down and rest my neck a few times on those days. This really helps my muscles to relax and stop guarding so much as soon as I lay my head down. I can’t begin to explain how wonderful that is. Overall I have had less numbness and tingling in my thumb and fingers and less arm pain also. My neck will still get tired but I do not have to rest it as often this past week when I’ve been using it. I do sleep on my side for half the night too. I tend to like to lay on the very edge of the pillow. I am able to do that with this pillow. It has a place to rest your arms too. I use that before I sleep but not when I’m sleeping because of preference of body position when asleep. Every morning I usually feel like I have played in the nfl as a linebacker when hitting hard was still a thing. It takes me an hour or two to be able to get up and get moving around. But with this pillow I’ve been able to get up and go about my day right away. Some stiffness but overall it’s been reduced by at least half. Hard to imagine a pillow can make that big of a change but I spending close to 8 hours in it. The zipper is so well hidden I forgot it had one till I read the description again before writing this. The cover is easy to slip off. In the center is a snap that you have to undo to get it off. It takes a bit more finesse to wrangle it back on. I didn’t take photos of the pillow with it on prior to taking the cover off. It isn’t perfectly on on in the photos I included. I have never recommended a product more than this one. My Dr had recently suggested a pillow that they heard some people had success with. It was around $100 and by 3 am I was in agony and back with my feather pillow. I was sore for 3 days after attempting to sleep on it. This one is currently priced at $39.90 and that is a fantastic deal based on other pillows that are supposed to be for necks. I always sleep on my back and have had trouble getting comfortable with my pillows. One is too flat, two pillows is too much. When I saw this uniquely shaped SomnAlign Ergonomic Memory Foam Pillow I decided to give it a try. It arrived in a box all curled up. (See pic). It was simple to unwrap and it immediately assumed the shape you see in the second photo. But I was surprised there was nothing else in the box. There were no care instructions. I noticed that on the front of the pillow there was a small zipper that extended across the width of the pillow, so apparently the covering can be removed. But it unzips only across the front, I wondered: if I laundered the pillow case, would I be able to put it back on the uniquely shaped foam body? And if I did decide to launder it, what setting should I use? Cold water? Warm, delicate? No clue. I sent a message to the seller and received this reply: "We sincerely apologize that we are currently unable to offer replacement pillowcases for purchase. We genuinely appreciate your feedback and are actively working to introduce this service in the future." I think most people DO occasionally launder their pillowcases as a practice of simple hygiene. One could have hair spray, hair color, or other such things that rub off one's hair and you don't want to be sleeping on an unclean pillow case! As to the design of the product, I have to give it high marks. The fabric on the surface of the pillow is soft and smooth -- very nice indeed! It takes a bit of getting used to but I now am surprisingly comfortable laying on the pillow. The design provides a space for your head to lay and on each side the contour is built up a little, which helps give your head some support side to side. The angle of the design is such I find it gives good cervical support. My head is not bent too much. I actually look forward to using this pillow every night...at least for as long as it remains clean. I am otherwise enthusiastic about this truly unique pillow design (!) and think it may help many people sleep better, which of course is a health benefit. But why haven't they come up with a way for users to clean the pillowcase or acquire a replacement?
