Previously we had a large but flat and thin changing mat, and although those are great for larger babies / toddlers who are still in nappies, weren't great for the tiny baby. This gives more comfort and support while changing, and minimises the change of a moving baby rolling, espsecially with the strap. The shape and slight tilt of the mat have also meant that any 'accidents' that occur while changing flow down the mat rather than sit around the baby. The size is good but you'd need to check if you have a larger baby / infant to make sure they'll fit.
