They're great go-to, everyday straws, but I would say the 8mm is too narrow for smoothies. I didn't choose these for that, though, so I'm happy with them at an affordable price. I really like the choice of colors, too. I'm working on getting different straws, mainly for guests, and these are the first silicone ones I've ordered.
