## Questions & Answers

**Q: So this has no ephedrine like it says on the packaging, but it does naturally have ephedra? And how many servings per package?**
A: Hello, thanks for your questions Donny, and sorry for my delay in responding. You are correct there is no Ephedrine (or Caffeine) in this Mormon Tea. Ephedras are found worldwide and contain a wide variety of alkaloid and non-alkaloid compounds and three types of Ephedra Sinica (E. sinica) are historically from and continue to be grown in Mainland China and these contain up to 6 of the bioactive alkaloids: ephedrine (EP), pseudoephedrine (PS), methylephedrine (ME), methylpseudoephedrine (MP), norephedrine (NE), and norpseudoephedrine (NP). The Ephedra Viridis Coville Nevadensis (E. nevadensis) (Green Mormon Tea, Brigham Tea, Indian Tea, etc.) listed in this Amazon listing is from North America (specifically above 7000 foot in elevation) and has been found to be free of the 6 bioactive alkaloids found in the three Chinese E. sinicas. Other beneficial and medicinal compounds are shared between the Ephedras aside from the 6 ephedrine alkaloids and thus people have found the many uses for the plant and plant parts historically and prehistorically. Primarily you will find the green stems in the package. Also there will be some of the VERY tiny brown vestigial leaves and these are what "Mormon Tea Powder" is made from. The roots of the plant have traditional uses as well yet we sell the dried green stems to be boiled into a tea. To your second question, how many servings per package? This "How Many Servings" along with the "Net Weight" we plan to add to our new labels. Each package contains enough tea for 10-12 12 cup tea pots and with four large servings in each tea pot, 40-45 servings is my best estimate per package. Hoping my answers are helpful Donny and thanks again! Your friends at ForagedWild.

**Q: where was this tea gathered?**
A: Hello and thanks for your question. Above 7000 foot elevation in the subalpine zone of mountains in the Western United States is where the Tea is gathered and it is slowly dried covered and in the shade after processing.
Thanks and take care, your friends at ForagedWild

**Q: What’s the best way to brew it?**
A: Hi Old Smoke and thanks for asking. Primarily in each bag are the dried green stems of the plant but there is also the VERY FINE leaves which are similar in appearance to a powder. Distilled or pure water is highly recommended and just boiling the stems and any powder is the way we like to make the tea. The water slowly will begin to take on more color from the plant parts as the water heats and then boils and the longer boiled. Once a ROLLING BOIL is reached, moderate the heat to maintain the rolling boil for 10 or more minutes. So the tea is easily to add and cleaning is easy, a wide mouth teapot is highly recommended and my favorite is the clear glass "12 cup Whistling Kettle". Fill teapot only about 2/3 full so the rolling boil doesn't overflow and when the tea has a nice rose-amber color and the strength you like it add more water to the finished tea to make the full pot. More time brewing makes a stronger tea as will adding more tea. I use between 1/4 and 1/3 cup (or a few pinches) of the stems per pot. The tea can be served with or without sweeteners, hot, warm, chilled, or poured over ice to make a nice iced Mormon Tea. Mostly the feedback we hear is there is no need for added sweeteners. Thanks again for your question and hoping you ENJOY and add your feedback.

Thanks again, take care, and best wishes! ForagedWild
