Sounds like something is broken inside. Contacted the customer service and they were useless. Told me that they are willing to do nothing because I didn't register it when I bought it. And they told me that there is no bin lid replacement, so my only option is to buy another bin. Complete waste of money. Contacted tower for a replacement as it's under warranty and been told to contact the retailer on Amazon, who is Tower! Can't contact as returns closed in Jan 2022, but have warranty for a year?? **Q: Is the upper part (the one holding the lid) also made of stainless steel? On some of the pictures it looks pretty much plastic to me.** A: Yes the upper part and lid are made of Stainless Steel, but with plastic parts on the inside, battery housing, sack retainer etc. The sack retainer is in two parts, both plastic mouldings and quite delicate so handle with care! Used with 80L black sacks, it will take a weeks general rubbish and fill naturally with out the need to ram it down, making it easier to remove when full. A really good buy. **Q: does the sensor detect movement above or only in front of the bin? Can you open it manually if the batteries are dead?** A: It only detects movement in front of the bin You can pull it open manually if batteries are dead but best to replace once it starts to not open up as far as this is a clear indicator that the bin. This bin is lovely quality and I was surprised how big it was. **Q: Does this have a divider inside or its just one compartment?** A: It’s one compartment. Don’t buy this bin it’s terrible.
