I already have that type and it looks like it would hurt my pet.** A: Yes it does, however the bristles are angled in the middle so that they have plenty of give to make sure they do not hurt your pet. We tested rounded bristles as well as these bristles and found that every pet we tried these on did not mind either way. The reason we did not add rounded ends to the bristles is because it would not work properly with the self cleaning feature as the hair would get stuck on the ends and not easily wipe off. **Q: would this work for a short haired dog like a boxer?** A: We actually don't recommend this for a short haired dog like a Boxer. We would recommend a bristle brush to knock off loose hair and dirt since a Boxer does not really have an undercoat. I tried brush after brush with her and none of them got her coat as soft as the groomer. I cut her hair because-despite it looking marvelous when she's running- it mats like crazy! I've got her hair basically half way to the ground and this brush glides through it effortlessly. Her brother, on the other hand, leans more toward the Poodle side so he has short, curly hair and the brush works on him to. It's a tad too big for their petite frame, though, and I do not care because I buy from GoPets exclusively now after the tens of brushes I went through. And there's a lifetime warranty so no ripping the handle off or ripping the bristles out of the brush.
