### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for that IR laser
*by on Reviewed in the United States May 22, 2026*

Easy to use and great for an IR laser. Remember you won't be able to see through glass, but works great outside. It was a little difficult to put on a NVG mount I bought (probably user error or didn't get the exact right one) but got it to work.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid and Affordable Option for My Needs.
*by on Reviewed in the United States May 18, 2026*

After using the Nightfox Prowl 2 for over two weeks between diving into the settings menu, walking around the yard, and even training I can say that this monocular was a solid purchase for the price in my honest opinion. Is it analog? Absolutely Not. Will you need some sort of IR illuminator via helmet mounted or weapon mounted? Possibly, depending on what you aim to do with this monocular. More importantly, will you be able to see and navigate reliably and safely across your own terrain? In my opinion, Yes. This is what I found, in my opinion, that was solid and what could be upgraded in newer models.PROS:Includes two extra lenses (3 total) which include a 40 something degree lens, 70 degree wide view lens, and 105 degree fish eye lens60 hz refresh/60 fps screen for smoother, and more natural movement for digital night visionFlexible IR settings via Settings menu: can utilize 850nm only, 940nm only, use both (Auto mode) or turn off IR completely for helmet or weapon mounted IR Devices such as illuminators, lasers, etc.Auto IR function removes guesswork between indoor and outdoor use.Prowl 2 can still be used while charging via USB Power Bank which extends battery life run time and solves helmet counterweight issue (two birds, one stone type deal)The Eyecup is removable so if you prefer it off just remove it, or leave it onSensitivity and backlight settings (ability to control brightness/Intensity) are a nice touch and very usable/user friendlyThe overall weight isn't bad for the size of the prowl 2 and I run mine helmet mounted on a bump helmet. however, a counterweight of some sort will still be needed when running the prowl 2 helmet mounted.Ease of movement/use/familiarization with the prowl 2 is quick and easyOffers true 1x magnification and up to 3x zoom4 different color modes including white phosphor, black and white, green phosphor, and inverted green.Works well indoors with ambient light with IR set to 0Passive aiming indoors is definitely usable (not perfect, not analog, but works for me and my setup/needs)Effective to at least 50 yards at 1x in my opinionProduces quality images for digital night vision when doing scouting/surveillance type workThe Nightfox Helmet mount that's sold separately is plug and play, and the prowl 2 comes with the hardware needed to attach to G24 style helmet mountsBuilt in Recording/32 GB sd card is also a nice touchCONS720 p resolution becomes noticeable under zoomIR reflection can wash out illuminated optics in low light conditions against reflective surfaces ( ordering a helmet mounted flood light and will test/update passive aiming issues after testing external IR solution versus integrated IR) This could be possibly fixed by a better sensor in newer models, but I'm not a night vision expert by any means, just an average joe.The body size does feel bulky mainly when aiming ( if all you run is a red dot sight this may not be the case, but i also run an lpvo with a red dot piggy backed and noticed the body of the monocular tends to land on top of the lpvo or hover right above it, within mm's)As stated before, passive aiming will more than likely work better with an external source (will test and verify)Auto Gain feature can become somewhat aggressive in very low light conditionsHigher sensitivity levels introduce more grain, especially when zoomed inLatency becomes more noticeable with faster head movements ( not unusable, but noticeable)With all that out of the way I would definitely say I'm pleased with my purchase. I purchased this unit for perimeter security around the house and clearing out structures that our located on our property (pole barn and shop). When I purchased this unit I DID NOT expect it to perform like an analog unit. It is digital night vision, it is way cheaper than analog, and it does have its limitations. However, while this may have its limitations compared to analog night vision, if you are willing to adapt with realistic expectations of what the prowl 2 can do, you will find that it is great for surveying, patrolling, etc. and can still be used for structure clearing as a slower and smoother pace. The only other experience I've personally had with night vision was during my time I served in the ARMY when we used it a handful of times during field exercises (I believe they were pvs 7's but could be wrong, 2 eyepieces that bridged into 1 tube) so I'm no means a night vision expert, nor claim to be. For this being my first experience with digital night vision, for the price, usability, and overall experience this monocular definitely met my needs. I had to adapt to and learn the monocular, but I was willing to do so. Passive aiming does work on this unit with ambient light at IR level 0 and will pick up red dots indoors, but outdoors, especially low light conditions and reflective surfaces at IR level 0 you may need an external illuminator thats head or helmet mounted for your setup depending on what optics you run. I run a red dot thats piggybacked to a 1x4 lpvo with the red dot for close up engagements, and the lpvo for mid range engagements, but passive aiming bloom may not be as bad depending upon different setups. All in all, I'm pleased with my purchase and don't feel I was ripped off or anything like that. This unit has worked well for me so far and I will update my review after testing external IR sources for passive aiming outdoors. I would recommend this product to anyone who enjoys nature walks and stargazing to anyone who is looking to use this monocular for perimeter security/ surveillance work, and structure clearing who doesn't want to spend thousands on analog night vision. As much as I'd love a PVS14 to just magically fall in my lap so i could use it, I dont have analog night vision money lol. Anyway, I hope this helps anyone looking for honest feedback about this product. Thanks and have a blessed day Y'all.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Nice
*by on Reviewed in the United States August 18, 2026*

This is awesome! After much research and lengthy chats with AI I think I made the correct purchase over the Nightfox Swift 2 Pro. I love everything about it, especially the multiple color filters and different lens attachments. Now I can fish in the dark and stroll through the wooded trails back to my car in pitch blackness. Even the head strap fits nice and securely after some fine tuning and a tight fitting beanie underneath. I was also able to easily mount this to a cheapo airsoft helmet I picked up on sale for the full experience. The only "cons" is the device takes a long time to fully charge, and, depending on IR/Sensitivity/Backlit settings, you can end up draining the battery fairly quickly. Luckily even on the lowest settings you can still see things in the dark pretty clearly.
