Review: Overall, this product is perfectly adequate. Its major selling point is the price point. This product is a much finer powder than other hydrolyzed collagen powders I've tried. It's not quite flour-textured, but pretty close. Other brands seem to have larger (more abrasive?) granules. This product does clump a lot more because it is such a fine powder, but it does fully dissolve. It just takes a little longer than other brands. Again, this is an inconvenience, but it's hardly a deal breaker. Also, because it is such a fine powder, I puffs into a little powder cloud as I dumb the scoop into my cup. This leaves a fine dust film on the counter top, which I wipe immediately. These are the drawbacks of it being so finely ground. I've also detected a faint tart taste to this product. Again, this is not a deal breaker, but it did register and has taken a couple days of getting used to. I mix the collagen powder into broth, which masks most of the subtle taste, but I still detected the very slight tartness. Bottom line: 1. It does clump, but it will fully dissolve-- just takes an extra minute. 2. It also has a slightly more noticeable taste, but this is not off putting. 3. I mix the powder with warm water I heat up in the microwave first. I then add a tablespoon of chia seeds and a squirt of water flavoring. I make enough for the week and bottle in my empty, clean Boost nutrition shake bottles and refrigerate. I think my added photos show why I still drink collagen peptides. I’ve been using Ordain collagen peptides for $24.99 at Walmart since April. That container lasts me 2 weeks. Since I need to purchase twice per month for a total of $50 a month, I was looking for grass fed collagen peptides a little cheaper. This brand at $16.99 for the same amount would total $34 a month, a $16 savings. That’s perk 1 Perk 2 - this brand looks, feels, smells and tastes the same as Ordain. In fact there is no smell or taste which is a huge perk for me. I need this to not have any flavor as I drink it straight from the bottle it’s made in / chilled and with chia seeds. Perk 3 - it mixes just fine. Any powdered anything will clump when mixed with cold water (except koolaid). If you look at the gel formed from homemade bone broth - it becomes clear liquid when warm. So it is recommended to mix this powder with warm to hot water (palatable coffee/tea temp) to completely dissolve to clear appearance before adding cold water or ice. There is no residue in the bottom of the bottle or cup when blended with warm water so you get the full benefit of the recommended dose. Anyone with health, skin, nail, hair issues or in need of extra protein in their daily diet will benefit from collagen peptides. A: Hi Amanda, we do rigorous 3rd-party lab testing on our collagen powder to ensure that absolutely no trace of hormones or antibiotics exists in our product. While we can't claim that the original cattle is totally free of hormones and antibiotics (the vast majority of the most popular collagen products out there can't claim this either), our manufacturing process and third-party testing makes sure that no traces of hormones or antibiotics exist in our collagen.

**Q: Where is the cow raised ?**
A: Our cattle is pasture-raised in Brazil. Thank you for your question!

**Q: Is this hydrolysate**
A: Yes, this product is collagen hydrolysate. You might also see this type of product referred to as hydrolyzed collagen or collagen peptides--they all mean the same thing. We use an enzymatic hydrolysis process to break down the collagen protein chains, forming peptides. This allows for better absorbability and allows the powder to dissolve easily in water without thickening. Thanks for asking!

**Q: Sourced from hide or bones?**
A: I don't know the answer to your question, but gelatin from hide, bones, and tendon don't really differ in terms of amino acid content (see table p592 http://www.biochemj.org/content/ppbiochemj/61/4/589.full.pdf ). The species (bovine/porcine/human) doesn't seem to matter either.

Overall, this product is perfectly adequate. Its major selling point is the price point. This product is a much finer powder than other hydrolyzed collagen powders I've tried. I've been using Great Lakes Collagen daily for a while now, which is kind of the industry standard, but I was looking for something a little less expensive and picked this up. My review will be comparing it to that. The packaging actually looks much better than it does in the product picture, so that was a positive first impression. The powder itself looks pretty much the same as Great Lakes's powder. When I put it in cold water, which is the hardest for collagen to dissolve in, it took just a little longer than Great Lakes to dissolve, but it did dissolve completely. Just like Great Lakes collagen, it adds a slight yellowish tint to the water. (I'm not sure why the other review said it turned her drink gray, but it definitely didn't do that for me!) The taste was very similar to Great Lakes, meaning it has a subtle taste if you put it in plain water, but it's not a big deal for either product. When I put it in my coffee, I honestly couldn't even tell it was there. Overall I think this is a very compelling product, especially for the price. I've often complained about the high prices for wellness products like this, and this is a great value. It's grass-fed and non-GMO, which are important to me. There's very little practical difference from Great Lakes when using it, so I can't really see a good reason to spend so much more for the other brand, unless you really can't spare the extra seconds it takes to dissolve.
