Gamblin Cold Wax Medium Gamblin recommends wax medium to thicken your oil or alkyd paint and to provide a matte finish. Giacomo one of our staff artists prefers to use wax medium to build up translucent layers. He likes the unique surface created by this medium which allows him to juxtapose colors without blending unless blending is desired. This characteristic creates a very unique color field without brush strokes by using a palette knife.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I use cold wax medium on watercolors to perserve them?**
A: I've succesfully used Gamblin's Cold Wax medium on watercolors. Rub it onto the surface by hand and then buff off excess later with an old t-shirt or other cloth. The only drawback I have found is that once you have done this there is no going back in to add, change, or adjust anything in the painting

**Q: Can I used cold wax medium with acrylic paint ? I do not paint with oi**
A: You can mix oil paints or pigment with the wax medium, but acrylic paint won't work for coloring the wax. Wax medium is oil-based and acrylic paint is water-based so they won't mix well. You can always apply the wax over the acrylic paint after it has dried, but I'm not really sure what you are trying to do. If you are just wanting to add texture, I would recommend working with gesso or acrylic gel medium.

**Q: Can I used it with acrylic . I fo not paint with oil only acrylic .**
A: yes you can use it on acrylic as a finish

**Q: Can you buy gamblin products in Italy?**
A: I have no idea but you could order them on the internet.
