Finer mesh than some bags that came with my activated carbon. I've done a few swap-outs and the bags hold up well. I swap out the bags each time so I can let the used one soak and dry. The opening is much bigger than other bags I've used, so I don't have to use a mini-scoop. I don't see a reason to purchase anymore bags for a long time. Well worth the purchase, even just for convenience of being able to just pour in media freely from jugs. Review: You can make em work, but maybe not the best choice. - These bags aren't exactly amazing, but they do work. I ended up pulling the cotton strings out and replacing with thick monofilament fishing line (the kind you use for 300lbs+ marlin). I noticed the seams on the bottom of one were coming undone, so I just sealed the crap out of em with beads of silicone. Overall - Eh, I wasn't expecting something incredible from a cheap set of bags. I do think that a pair of pantyhose or something would work better though. I even used one for a filtersock. You can put over return to tank for when you restart it to catch debris from return line.
