After doing more research I figured I'd give trowels a try. This is great, it's much easier to use. As it's 'broken in' it has a slight bend to it, which makes it easier to make overlapping passes over the mud without the corners of the trowel digging in. I've always had that problem with the knives. I saw another reviewer complain that this trowel isn't flat, it's not supposed to be, it's 'broken-in' so it has a slight bend to it.
