I did a cold water-only rinse and hang dry/drip dry for the first cleaning, then started wearing them. The fabric on the 31x34 quickly relaxed a fair amount, I would guess about an inch from when they arrived in the waist, hip, and thigh. I also tried the 30x34 but returned them for being too snug. My waist measures 33 at the top of my hip bones but a slim fit doesn’t have enough room to work with my thighs, these are OK - I found the more relaxed Straight Six fit OK.
