Pins and wires on some of the parts like LCD16502 and motors have been pre-soldered which is very convenient and saves your time. 74HC595 Shift Register and LEDs 74HC595 is a Serial to Parallel Converter which has eight outputs and three inputs that you use to feed data into it a bit at a time. This chip makes it a little slower to drive the LEDs (you can only change the LEDs about 500,000 times a second instead of 8,000,000 a second) but it's still really fast, way faster than humans can detect, so it's worth it! 74HC595 shift register is a type of chip that holds what can be thought of as eight memory locations, each of which can either be a 1 or a 0. To set each of these values on or off, we feed in the data using the 'Data' and 'Clock' pins of the chip. LCD1602 Display module LCD1602 module is a display that has an LED backlight and can display two rows with up to 16 characters on each row. You can see the rectangles for each character on the display and the pixels that make up each character. The display is just white on blue and is intended for showing text. Lining up the display with the top of the breadboard helps to identify its pins without too much counting, especially if the breadboard has its rows numbered with row 1 as the top row of the board. Do not forget, the long yellow lead that links the slider of the pot to pin 3 of the display. The 'pot' is used to control the contrast of the display. DC Motors and L293D Transistor In this project you will learn how to control a small DC motor using an UNO R3 and a L293D transistor, which is a very useful chip. It can actually control two motors independently. We are just using half the chip in this lesson, most of the pins on the right hand side of the chip are for controlling a second motor. L293D is quadruple high-current half-H drivers and designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 1 A at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V. The L293D is also designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 600-mA at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V and drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, dc and bipolar stepping motors, as well as other high-current/high-voltage loads in positive-supply applications.

So you have to learn how to match arduino program with the clone for example "elegoo uno board = arduino uno board".Lil things you have to test out, but it's a cool Lil board to learn computer programming and making cool stuff. But if your a beginner. I advise to get the book by Simon monk " programming arduino, getting started with sketches ", this book teaches you the basics and language of computer c++ programming. And also gives you Lil task to accomplish and when you feel comfortable you can make Lil changes. And your world will open up. And each mistake is an accomplishment waiting to be learned. And I also had a problem with downloading the sketches from the files for the reason that i have windows11, so my problem was that when i went to downloadthe sketch. The media player would open. But the sketches are not media its an inf file. So when you click on the file the mediaplayer will open and on the side of the screen there will be a section where it would say properties. You have to change the mediaplayer into a drive that could read files. Because the mediaplayer is trying to read the file as if was a video......"word of advice! Make a copy of the files don't rely on just one. Just in case you mess up on 1 file you can go back and see what you have to correct ".

**Q: Is the elego uno the same as arduino uno? Is there any difference in the chips and the system? 
Is the color the only difference?**
A: The unit I recieved functions identically to the Arduino.Same chip. All Arduino library sketches run fine on it.I was very very pleased with this kit. I highly recommend it.

**Q: My 15 yr old is into sound, motors and magnets and wants to take over the world. Is this the best kit out there?**
A: It's a good set if he wants to learn the foundations for programming Arduino - he could use that knowledge later if he will build some more serious digital sound hardware or robotic applications and depending on his career choice later, it could be something valuable to "play with" now. I can't promise taking over the world though :)

**Q: Is soldering required ?**
A: I needed to solder my RFID/NFC module. The pins did not come pre soldered.Everything else was fine though.

**Q: What type of LED lights are in this kit?**
A: I purchased the kit as a gift to my grandson ( to spark his interest in electronics), so I’ve never seen the LED’s in action. I can say that did look over all the parts and can say that they seem to be standard multi color visible light LED’s. These LED’s would require a dropping resistor if connected to any power source with an operating voltage of more than just a couple of volts.

Its a lil bit of headache and a Lil bit of a learning curve. Especially because its its a clone of an arduino board. So you have to learn how to match arduino program with the clone for example "elegoo uno board = arduino uno board".Lil things you have to test out, but it's a cool Lil board to learn computer programming and making cool stuff. But if your a beginner. I advise to get the book by Simon monk " programming arduino, getting started with sketches ", this book teaches you the basics and language of computer c++ programming. And also gives you Lil task to accomplish and when you feel comfortable you can make Lil changes. And your world will open up. And each mistake is an accomplishment waiting to be learned. And I also had a problem with downloading the sketches from the files for the reason that i have windows11, so my problem was that when i went to downloadthe sketch. The media player would open. What a great starter kit! It is really worth the cost. Our STEM Club will enjoy learning with all the sensors and motors in the kit. First project is a sensor packed smart bedroom.
