There was even a time when they used the standard pin (20 pin a while ago), but changed the wiring on the MB, so when you replaced the PS, the non Dell PS would ruin the MB. There is absolutely no advantage to this. Having said that, this product works fine, I needed to replace the PS with a 700 watt to run a GTX 970 card that I had and it worked fine (barely had enough clearance for the card , but made it fit.. I got this used 9020 from Ebay, and I will never buy a Dell again. Additionally the sleep functionality does not work right in this model (even before switching out the PS)- it won't sleep- yes I went through the bios checked all of the settings, possibly the newest W10 might have caused a problem. It will hibernate if I manually put it there, but the timer doesn't work on that either. This adapter cable definitely works if you have to upgrade a Dell PS in a 9020 MT. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This adapter worked exactly as designed for my Dell 9020! *by J***K on October 25, 2020* Worked exactly as intended to add a 550 watt after market PSU to my Dell 9020 mini tower. Dell sucks for making their board this way, putting a capacitor right in the way and in fact designing it to require this adapter to make it back into standard ATX. Bottom line: this adapter worked great and gave new life to my 2014 PC, allowing me to turn it into a sweet gaming rig with a GTX 1650 Super and 1TB SSD. Well I got the item today, and my Corsair 750W Modular Power Supply is now powering my Inspiron 3670. It worked flawless as simple as plugging in 2 wires. The PowerSupply does take up more room now, where it has extra wires.
