Charcoal particles are mixed with clays and a small amount of colour pigment and encased in wood to produce a rich, smoothly textured pencil. The 'Blackness' of Charcoal with a Hint of Colour The Tinted Charcoal range maintains the 'blackness' of charcoal with a hint of colour; ideal for creating both drama and subtlety in the same drawing. A wide variety of effects can be created, from rich, deep tones to a translucent-like mist, plus they are naturally water-soluble. I bought this after reading many reviews so I am sure it will be good on paper as well. I will write one more review after I use it. Only draw back was the packaging. It came in a thin plastic cover only instead of securely packed so chances of breaking are always there . One pencil lead was slightly chipped.
