So I’ve been struggling with a poison oak rash for over a week now. I didn’t realize it at first and after a ton of google research it was determined I got into poison oak. The instructions say that you should gently scrub for 15 seconds, being careful to not break the skin. The reason behind this is that 1) the oil in poison ivy/oak/sumac that causes the rash is on the top layer of the skin, unless you break the skin via a scrape or a popped blister. Then the oil can penetrate deeper and cause more painful damage. Since this wash is meant to remove the stubborn oil of these plants, washing the surface gently should be plenty enough to be effective. 2) Opening a blister purposefully is never a good idea. That layer of fluid is there to protect your skin from worse injury and from infection. Once a blister is opened, it is significantly more likely to get infected. That risk become even higher when it's a blister that itches, because the constant touching of scratching the itch is bringing germs to the site of the rash, which now has an open wound. Highly recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review *by N***N on September 8, 2025* This is the golden standard of poison ivy rash care. Use it multiple times a day on a poison rash and you'll notice results in just one day. Itching completely gone and blisters will get exfoliated and start popping. There are a bunch of other brands out there (like cutters) but this one works the quickest. Cannot thank this product enough. Cuts a 2 week rash down to 4 days or so - and no more itching! I wish it were cheaper so i could use it more liberally as a pre-emptive wash. At the current price its too expensive to use every single time I come back from yard work. I just use dishsoap as a pre-emptive wash if I know i'm gonna be around poison ivy. If a rash appears I'll use the tecnu scrub.
