There are both types as in the photo. The strips and plastic covers are 1 meter in length. 4 foot lengths would be more helpful, but not European. The plastic covers are polystyrene, which means that in a couple years they will start to yellow and become more opaque and brittle. Acrylic strips would solve the yellowing problem, and be worth the added cost. There are no predrilled mounting holes, so these need to be drilled if the strips are to be mounted using screws. The metal bases are extruded aluminum with sufficien.t thickness to maintain their shape and structural integrity. The plastic covers fit snugly.
