I was trained in slashing and not stabbing, slashing can create more damage and allows more combat potential for defense rather than the stabbing position. These positions I speak of are if you put a closed fist around the weapon is the blade pointing in the same direction as your thumb or not. I would get trained on using this style of knife before deciding this is for you and complaining because it isn't your style. Remember what it is for. And what it is meant to do it will do so well. Light, comfortable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great design for one-handed opening. *by J***8 on January 17, 2026* This knife probably seems very expensive (although the current price on Amazon of ~$175 is way cheaper than on the Fox website as of the time I am writing this), but there are reasons for the cost. First is that it's imported from Italy. It was also specifically designed by Doug Marcaida and Lad Mandiola to be used in a very specific way. I won't go into those details here, you can look them up. I have many other knives, including expensive "out the front" spring loaded knives. But I really like the simplicity of this one-handed design. Basically, if you are right-handed, you put your index finger through the hole, while the knife is on your body. You pull it up, out of your pocket/pants so that the hook on the back of the knife catches your pants/clothing and it will flip the knife open. You close your hand around it and then it's in the proper orientation for use.
