The longer handle on it allows for one or two handed use. There are 2 pins in the handle so I'm thinking it's full tang. The blade itself has nice proportions, with the balance about 3 inches in front of the tsuba (guard), 1.5 inches in front of the habaki (brass in front of the guard). Bohi (groove) runs most of the length of the blade. After I cleaned the shipping grease off I noticed it was sharp, but not too sharp. The ito (wrap) is cotton, tied tightly. The saya (scabbard) is of decent quality and locks the blade in nicely. Overall great value for the price, I would buy it again. Great balance, rigid, makes a nice sound when cutting on the air, great grip. The sharpness could have been a tiny bit better but I am not going to use this katana to make real cut, mostly for learning and demonstration so it might be a good thing.
