Had sales people come into the store and teach us more. The customers would teach us by telling us their experiences. I KNOW WHAT A GOOD PROBIOTIC IS VS. A BAD ONE. At first I was hesitant to try these even though Garden of Life has a wonderful reputation for producing superior quality products. The reason is because of the high probiotic counts. Usually with the higher probiotic counts I tend to be a little cautious because it could means the company is doing something they are not suppose to be doing. However, despite my concerns I thought I would give these a try anyway. And I was comforted by the fact that GOL produced them. I have nothing but good things to say about these probiotics. I now have my sister (taking raw for women) and brother taking these as well as a few friends of mine. There are two symptoms I had which went away after taking these. I did not even realize they were symptoms. 1) I had a nagging small rash (scattered blemishes) in the middle of my chest along my sternum. It has always been there, on and off for years. I just figured it was one of those things that my body had. No big deal. However, it went away and after taking these and in the months since then it has not returned. Clear skin where a rash use to be. 2) The bottom of my feet were becoming more and more scaly as I got older. You think this is because of lack of cleanliness but I know it to be a sign of fungus. We are all exposed to fungus through the day. Lots of it. This fungus grows spores into the skin which makes the skin rough. Well that went away too! Now at first I did not make the connection, until the light bulb went off. You see, your internal intestines are actually considered to be "external" to your body. How can something internal be external? Well they are considered external because food from the outside world enters your mouth and travels through your intestines. Therefore, they are exposed to external elements just like your skin is. So think of how yucky your skin would get if you never bathed. Well inside your intestines there is a balance of good bacteria (flora/probiotics) and bad bacteria (bacteria which comes with the food you eat). Good bacteria is fed by fiber and bad bacteria is fed by sugar. Now here is the connection. What do you think would happen when your body, as it ages, starts to lose the battle in your intestines? It pulls resources from other parts of your body to help "win the war" so to speak. That is what was happening to me. By adding these "troops" to help win the war in my intestine my body could free up resources, i.e., it could focus on repairing the skin on my chest and attack the fungus in the skin on the bottom of my feet. Sorry for the long review. I hope it helps some one. Also, I made this as short as possible. There is so much detail in nutrition that if I were to include everything it would put you to sleep. If you're eating a good healthy diet, then these can be used to maintain the good bacteria. If your diet is more unhealthy, then taking these regularly will help keep the flora in balance such that the bad bacteria cannot overtake the good bacteria in the gut. In an ideal situation, the good bacteria will reproduce in the gut on their own. The problem is that almost no one's diet fits that ideal situation (such as eating no processed sugar - yikes! who does that!). These are key to me maintaining my health. I thought I would give an update to let everyone know I am still standing behind my original post and am still using this product. I highly recommend it to my friends and family. [3/15/18 update] I just purchased more a little while ago. I slacked off taking these on a regular basis, and my feet started to get rough around the edges again. So, I became more diligent about taking these and low and behold the bottoms of my feet got better - again. I know it sounds strange, but I have had this happen to me now multiple times. I also take these more when I am eating too much sugar in my diet. The sugar feeds the bad bacteria, and this product supplies good bacteria, which kills the bad bacteria. So, I use one to offset the other. [6/3/2018 update] I have had several experiences with taking these to help with a slightly upset stomach. The kind of feeling you get when eating something that might be a little bad. Good bacteria and bad bacteria cannot coexist together. One of the two will win out and kill off the other.
