I was delighted when I discovered my fears to be unfounded. I compared smell, texture, and result by applying this to half my hair and some from my drained salon-purchased bottle to the other half. Same silky-smooth locks and sweet fragrance. I have been using the bottle purchased through amazon for a while now and have not noticed any difference; my hair is still baby-soft despite being bleached (then colored, then bleached, then colored - poor hair!) and maintains a healthy appearance. My hair has continued to grow like a weed as it did when I purchased through my salon. I have long, fine hair (though lots of it) and this oil does not weigh it down one bit. This is not exactly the same. I compared the ingredient list and it is slightly different. I am keeping it as it is very lightweight and still gives my hair great shine... the smell is pleasant and scent will probably not be a problem if you never smelled it before and are not expecting a certain smell. I am old with grey hair that has gotten dry ..I massage a lot of oil into my hair and this is good.
