During the growing season when the little leaves and the flowers emerge, our citrus trees (especially the ones in pots) need a lot of nutrition by regular feedings. Leaves are green, healthy and shiny and flowers fill the air with the sweet scent of orange blossoms! My experience with potted citrus is to stick to the manufacturers recommendation of slow release granule feeding only 6-8 weeks during the active growing season. Too much of a good thing can be not be bad for citrus trees, especially ones in pots where too much fertilizer in the limited space actually hinders the plants growth.
