I bought these to steep with tea to give it a little different flavor. **Q: Do these cloves float or sink in water?** A: They do float in the water **Q: Could they just be put in a bowl for fragrance ?** A: Of course they can, and I'm sure you can already smell the aroma thru the bag. Should a child so happen to chew on some all that will happen is, at first there might be a little heat sensation, then some numbing, and then they'll probably just spit it out, it might also be a big shock to the chld, so they may cry, but other than that, there shouldn't be any harmful effects, as long as they are not allergic to clove. We bought these ones specifically to flavor already store bought liqour, making things like mulled wine and brandy infusions, apple pie etc, these are very strong, 2 cloves will almost over power an entire quart, if your baking with it like we plan to use the rest for do so sparringly. This company is very good with all of its spices, they have always been spot on, very flavorful on everything ive ever bought, everything has always been stronger, fresher, and better smelling/tasting than any other brand, other than buying the ingredients fresh/wet. The rosemary is also good but not quite as good as from my own garden.
