## Description

Matcha green tea powder. Ceremonial grade.

Review: The Perfect Balance of Quality and Price - I grew up in Japan drinking matcha regularly, so I’m very picky when it comes to quality. Good matcha can be extremely pricy, and I’ve been on the hunt for something that balances authenticity, flavor, and affordability. This Matcha hits that sweet spot for me. It’s organic, ceremonial grade, and—most importantly for me—sourced from Uji, Kyoto, the region known for producing some of the best matcha in Japan. The color is a beautiful, bright green and the texture is smooth and silky. The taste is rich but not bitter, with that natural sweetness I expect from true ceremonial matcha. For the mid-range price, the quality is honestly impressive. I can enjoy my daily matcha ritual here in the States without feeling like I’m overspending. I’ve repurchased several times already and plan to keep this as my go-to matcha. Highly recommend to fellow matcha lovers who want authentic flavor without breaking the bank.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this matcha radiation tested?**
A: Yes, and this is an extremely important matter to us. We obtain third party certified analysis reports regularly to prove undetectable levels of contamination.

Please note that once radiation is detected in a particular region, it becomes public information. Also, Japan's ministry of health website posts weekly updates with testing results for levels of radioactive contaminants in tea and other produce (http://www.mhlw.go.jp/english/topics/2011eq/index_food_radioactive.html)

Radioactive active contamination of green tea was detected in a number of occasions. In 2011, dried leaves from the year’s first harvest in the Honyama area of Shizuoka were found to contain radioactive cesium above the maximum permitted level. In 2015 traces of radioactive cesium (described as below legal maximum level) were detected in green tea shipped from Japan to Hong Kong, and that tea was imported from prefecture of Chiba.

At Macha Konomi, we don't only avoid regions with no history of radiation contamination, but we also make sure we are working with farms as far as possible from Fukushima or the regions I mentioned above. That is the reason we ONLY source from Yame and Uji cities. Akira Matcha (the product you are asking about) is from Uji, Kyoto.

Please let us know if you have any more questions!

**Q: How many drinks can be made from 1 oz ?**
A: 1 oz of matcha equals approximately 30g. The typical serving size is 1/2 tea spoon which is 1g, so total number of servings is 30. The typical beverage size for that 1 serving of matcha is 12 oz.
Please note that this can be different from one person to another, some might find that serving size to be too strong and use less than 1/2 tsp, and others might go up to 1 tsp. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

**Q: Does it contain any fillers?**
A: The answer is no. This product is 100% organic Matcha green tea powder, it has no fillers or additives.
Please let us know if you have any more questions!

**Q: what is the difference in the flavors that you cary?**
A: Thank you for the great question.

The main difference is in the strength of the green tea flavor and the overall smoothness.

Akira Matcha has a milder green tea flavor and is overall smoother than Oishi Matcha. Both, Akira and Oishi, are USDA organic.

We recommend Akira for sipping, hot or cold tea, or in unsweetened lattes.

Oishi Matcha is perfect when mixed with other ingredients as its stronger green tea flavor will be easier to surface. We recommend Oishi Matcha in sweetened lattes, smoothies, desserts, and baking. Oishi Matcha is superior to the typical “cullinary matcha” as it is made from higher quality leaves (first harvest instead of second/third harvest), has less astringency, and produce a more beautiful color (bright green instead of yellowish-green).

Amaya Matcha is a non-organic matcha that has even a smoother flavor and a more vibrant green color than Akira, because with non-organic matcha there is a potential of reaching a higher umami profile. Please note that all of our non-organic matcha is tested for safety in Japan, and testing is repeated in the United States.

Hope this helps, please let us know if you have any more questions!

Your friends at Matcha Konomi :)
